The kidney transplant took 6 hours which is 3 hours longer than it should have taken, but there were complications during the procedure.

Thankfully Maddie made it and is looking good. Meredith was at the nurses station when Hayes walked up beside her. "Thank you for your help dr. Grey" Meredith smiled and looked to her right "you're welcome. Do you want me to come and update her mom with you?" Hayes nodded "sure, that would be nice" he responded. As they walk side by side to Maddie's room Hayes looked to his left at Meredith who turned and looked him in the eye. Meredith was smiling which made Hayes go insane! When Meredith smiled it made Hayes feel like nothing else was happening. He wasn't sure why he felt this way because he had only just met Meredith 3 weeks prior. I can't be falling for her... can I? Hayes thought to himself.

"So I hear you have two boy's" Meredith said breaking the silence. "Yeah teenagers Liam and Austin. You have 3 kid's right?" Hayes asked. "Yes Zola, Bailey, and Ellis. My kids aren't quite teenagers yet." Hayes nodded and smiled "I miss having young kid's now my boys just want money, pizza, and video games."

Meredith laughed as they got on the elevator. Hayes let's Meredith get in the elevator first then he walks in and stand's shoulder to shoulder with Meredith. Meredith's left hand is hanging by her side. Hayes right hand is hanging by his. Hayes reached his hand slowly toward's Meredith's and touched her hand as if he was going to hold it. The elevator opened and Andrew walked in. Hayes quickly pulled his hand away and put it in his pocket. Meredith looked at him, Almost disappointed. "Hey mer" said Andrew. "Hello doctor Deluca" replied Meredith, making it very obvious she didn't want him calling her Mer.
