Night Rain

"You are very fertile." Carina says to cormac and I. I look at her and then look at Cormac. His face is a mixture of shock, confusion, and excitement. My face matches his I cant move I cant say anything. "What do you mean by that?" He asks. "Last time I saw you two, you were pregnant with triplets, then you ended up having twins and then miscarried." Carina says putting the wand down for a minute, "correct." Cormac responds. Carina turns the screen. "You're having quadruplets." She says. I sit up some, Cormac's jaw drops. "I'm what?" I ask loudly. "Okay, okay. Here look." Pointing to the screen Carina says. "See baby A, baby B, baby C, baby D." Cormac looks at me still with his jaw dropped. "You- you mean four? We're going to have a family of ten? She- she has" Carina looks at him. "Here Cormac sit down. It's very important this time around that Meredith stays very calm. She obviously has issues with miscarriages." Carina says pulling a chair over to him. "I'm going to leave you two to talk for a minute. I'll be back soon." Carina says walking out. It stayed silent for a while. "Cory" I say just looking at the ceiling. "Mer" he says back. "I am- we are pregnant with quadruplets." I follow. "Yes. Yes we are." He says. "What does this mean?" I ask turning my head to look at him. "It means-" he starts saying moving closer to me putting his hand on my bare belly. "That I love you and all four of our babies. It means nothing changes because I am still madly in love with you." He replies. I wipe a tear off my cheek as he stands up and puts his hand on my other cheek. "Don't cry. You can't be stressed." He says I chuckle "baby I'm not stressed I'm happy, I'm madly in love." I reply. The door opens. "Are we ready to talk about this?" Carina asks popping her head in. "Yes" we both say. "Okay. Because this time you have four babies and not just one there's a few things we have to do differently." Carina starts saying as she sits down next to my bed. "You need to be very careful. Try not o get stressed, no heavy lifting, do not spend a lot of time on your feet. Meredith I know how much you like to cut but please listen to me." Carina was practically begging. "Okay." I respond. "What about sex?" Cormac asks which makes us all laugh. "I'm going to leave that up to you. You can have sex however some moms don't want to risk it. At this point every baby looks healthy and you're one week into you're second trimester so it's safe." Carina says. "Okay." Corn responds. "Would you guys like copies of the ultrasound?" Carina offers. "Yes please but can you print eleven of them? I know that's a lot." I ask. "Yes I can, I'll get those. You can get all ready to go." Carina responds. I fix my shirt and pants, carin walks back with all the copies of the ultrasound. "Thank you so much Carina, I really appreciate it." I say. "You're welcome Meredith. Follow the rules."

Hey I know I haven't really talked to you since you left but I have news and weather you like it or not you're my person.

See this is is what happens when you leave your family and friends for your ex wife. I'm engaged to cormac Hayes who took over for you. Cristina sent him from Switzerland. I was pregnant miscarried and now I'm pregnant again. Alex I'm having quadruplets. *send pic of ultrasound*

Okay listen i texted and called you weeks ago and you didn't respond so I'm just going to say it. I'm pregnant with quadruplets and I'm engaged. Love you.

Meredith and I get paged to maddies room where we are meet by maddies mom, Richard and Bailey. Maddies mom had asked me to caller her by her first name. Meredith walk's in smiling holding her hand out to shake maddies moms hand once again with the other hand she was holding a coffee. "Hello again Mrs. Williams. I'm doctor grey." Meredith says. Jessica looks at Meredith. "Hi Meredith I remember." She replies mer nods her head. "Hey Jess. Unfortunately Meredith and I were not able to make it to Maddies surgery today as we had a place we had to be. Doctor Webber and Doctor Bailey worked on Maddie instead." I say pointing to Richard and Bailey when I say there names. "Hello Mrs. Williams." Bailey and Richard both say shaking her hand. "We had to place Maddie on dialysis while we wait for unos to find a new kidney. She should wake up soon and will stay for a little while." Bailey says. "The procedure when very well but Maddie will be sore. You shouldn't expect her to act like her self because she will be in a lot of pain." Richard says next. "Thank you both." Jessica says as Richard and Bailey walk out. After they both left Meredith and I stay to catch up with Jess we have become closer friends. "Meredith, I hope you don't mind me asking, are you engaged?" Jessica asks. Meredith smiles. "I am." She replies Jessica gasp. Meredith holds out her hand to show Jess the ring. "Who's the lucky guy?" Jessica asks. "Uhh." Meredith says before I cut in "I am!" I reply "oh I'm sorry I didn't know you two were-" I chuckle "no Jess that's good. Patients shouldn't know. Don't worry." I say. "Well congratulations!" Jessica responds. "Thank you." Medusa ya placing her free hand on her belly. "No!" Jessica says. Meredith looks behind her at the nurses station where Bailey was standing. Meredith closes the door "yes." She says smiling "oh my gosh congratulations, congratulations, congratulations! Maddie will be so excited." Jessica says I smile and look down. "Thank you! Don't tell anyone though we're tell everyone tonight. You can tell Maddie if you want." Meredith replies. Jessica shakes her head "no way I want you guys to." Meredith grabs my hand as I says "okay, I'm going to come back and check on you guys a little bit later. Jessica you know where to find me if you need anything." Jess nods and smiles. Meredith and I walk out of the room.

"Bailey can I speak to you please?" I ask as I walk to the nurses station holding Cormac's hand. "What is it grey?" She says not paying attention to me. "Miranda Bailey I need to speak with you." I say firmly. She looks up. "Okay here let's go to this empty room." She replies point to a room across the hall. We walk in and all sit down. It was a family room so it didn't have a hospital bed but had a couch and chairs instead. "Bailey you are like a mother to me. You raised me. Thank you. I want to share two things with you today." I say Bailey looks at me smiling. "The first thing we would like to share is.." I put my hand out. "We're engaged." I say. Bailey grabs my hand. "Oh my gosh Meredith! That's beautiful, congratulations." She says which was not what I was expecting I was expecting her to hate this. Cormac takes an ultrasound picture out of his pocket but doesn't make it visible to her yet. I look at him. "The next thing we would like to share with you is a secret so don't tell anyone." He says "okay." Bailey replies. He pulls the picture out and slides it on the table as he says "were pregnant."
