Trigger Warning - Mentions of Self-Harm

Lillian

Keith took my face between his hands, his thumbs coming to rest right in front of my ears as he pressed gentle kisses to my lips. I, of course, was kissing back, my arms around his neck.

"How about a walk and dinner?" he asked after a few more kisses.

"Only if we can get some photos taken for our engagement as well," I said.

Keith smiled. "I like that idea."

We held hands as we left Garrison property for our walk. The night air was a little cold, but the silence was welcomed, especially after spending so much time packing a ship we'd all be living on...a ship that would have very little silence.

I kept playing with the ring on my finger, beyond happy for what was to come after our liberation efforts. We'd actually be married.

I don't want to lose the ring, though. I'll have to make sure I wear it under my suit so it's always with me.

I have another one in case you do lose it.

Prepared, I see.

Space can do crazy things. You never know what might happen.

"Very true," I whispered and turned to him. "That means we need to get you a ring before tomorrow. Just in case something happens to us."

He smiled softly, which he seemed to be doing a lot lately.

I smile because I love you.

I blushed.

"Yes, we can do that," he said. "I think it's a good idea."

We went to the mall nearby, which was miraculously still open, and found a rather inexpensive ring for Keith to wear before he got his real one. He let me put it on his finger, and I absolutely loved what our rings symbolised.

"You know," Keith said as we exited the mall to continue our walk. "We never get to do this. We're always training, preparing for our next battle, never spending any quality time with each other. We need to make this more of a priority, even when we're on our next mission."

"I agree," I said. "It'll be necessary for a healthy relationship."

He turned to kiss me.

"Where do you want those pictures?" he asked.

"Somewhere visually pleasing," I said.

"I'll keep my eye open." He smiled.

We reached a nice courtyard with blossoming flowers and blooming greenery, somehow bright and happy despite the war it had just been through.

"How about here?" Keith asked, reading my mind.

"It's perfect." I grinned.

We located a bot with picture-taking capabilities and coerced it into taking a few photos of me and Keith to celebrate our special moment. Some of the pictures featured us flashing our rings, kissing, and just standing side-by-side, smiling. They were all beautiful images that I would keep with me forever.

"Where to next?" Keith asked.

"You're having too much fun with this, aren't you?" I kissed his cheek, smiling.

"You're no longer my girlfriend, Lillian. You're my fiancé. The future Mrs. Kogane! Of course I'm having too much fun with this." He picked me up at the waist and twirled me around in the air, laughing while he did.
