Keith
I woke up the following morning with a fuzzy feeling inside, the kind of feeling you get after you've kissed your fiancé, but something bad might happen to take that sensation away.
So I was sceptical about my day, awaiting bad news at any turn.
That's when I found out.
Allura had bonded with the dark entity while everyone was down at Clear Day.
Quickly, we called an emergency Paladin meeting to the conference room where we sat to discuss our options, with Coran, of course, because he was an essential part of the team.
Allura explained that the entity may be the way to find Honerva and finally stop her.
"We need Shiro," I said.
As head of the ship, and therefore head of the mission, he needed to be informed of our plans. Not to mention that he was a former Paladin, and I still had my own personal ties to him.
"You wanted to see me?" Shiro asked, entering the room.
"We've been working on something, and we thought we'd run it by you," Pidge began, tentatively.
"We think we might have a way to find Honerva," I continued.
"The entity has bonded me to Honverva. The link is there whether we use it or not. I believe that if the Paladins connect using the shared consciousness of Voltron, we may be able to travel through the void and into Honerva's mind," Allura explained.
The room was tense. Lance didn't like this idea, and I could tell that Shiro was disturbed by it as well.
Pidge continued. "That could, in theory, give us access to her physical location, as well as key information on how to defeat her."
"Which, after what happened the last time we faced her, could be super useful," Hunk said, pointing out the obvious.
"Honerva is capable of creating galactic Komars, wormholes, robeasts, and now Lotor and his mech are out there somewhere. She is the single greatest threat the universe has ever faced, and we don't have any other leads." I looked at Shiro, trying to convince him. "It might take lifetimes for another opportunity like this to come around again. We think it's worth the risk."
"I spent a lot of time in the infinite void," Shiro said. "It took all my strength not to lose my sanity. And if you face Honerva in the void, she will win. But..." his whole demeanour changed. "If you can find a clue that leads to defeating Honerva and Lotor, it could give us the upper hand in this fight."
"I don't like the idea of using Allura like this," Lance said, arms crossed. "We're messing with powers we don't fully understand that have ruined countless lives. It's...it's dangerous."
"Lance, we're the Paladins of Voltron. There's no one more capable of taking this on." Allura stood. "It has to be us."
Pidge stood next, supporting Allura. Then I did. Hunk followed, along with Shiro and Coran.
Lance hesitated, not wanting to go through with it, and I understood why. Why would he want to put his girlfriend in harm's way willingly?
I definitely wouldn't want to do that.
Finally, Lance stood.
"Let's do it," he said.
"Besides, the team will have our sharpshooter there to keep us safe," Allura said, smiling at him.
"I knew that nickname was gonna catch on one of these days," Lance said, smiling softly back at her.
I grinned.
