Keith

I was in the middle of getting ready for a mission with Voltron when I remembered that I needed to be on a mission with the Blades.

Lucky for me, I didn't have to call Lillian because she called me first. Her face popped up on my wrist communication device.

"Kogane."

She said my last name like a swear word.

"You need to come into the base now. We're going to be leaving soon," she said.

"I can't. Voltron's about to go on a mission," I told her.

"Keith, I know you have other commitments, but this is part of your training. It should take an hour, max. You need to get over here now." Lillian looked at me with her stern beautiful eyes, and I began to wonder why I decided not to like her anymore.

Get with it, Keith.

I groaned. This would be the second time I let Voltron down. If I decided to go.

"I don't know, General," I said.

"Keith, get your ass to this base now. You have twenty minutes to show yourself, or more consequences will follow." She clicked off the call, and I was more shocked by her use of the word "ass" than by the fact that she told me to get to a base in twenty minutes when it was thirty minutes from my location.

Before I even said anything as I entered the Bridge, everyone gave me a small glare.

"Leaving again?" Lance asked.

I looked down. It was obvious, I mean, I was wearing my Blade suit.

"It shouldn't be long. An hour max," I said.

"Be back here quickly, Keith. We need you for this mission," Shiro said.

We had found him, and he quickly took up his post as leader of Voltron from within the castle.

I nodded and turned. "I'll be back as soon as I can."

I walked to the departure bay and found a pod to take. I didn't want to take the Black Lion in case it was needed here. Shiro would be able to fly it.

He still has his bond with his lion, I know he does. That's the exact reason I'm not needed here anymore.

When I arrived at the base, Lillian was standing in the departure bay looking at her wrist tech.

"You're late," she said.

I looked at my own wrist tech. "By fifty seconds, general."

From her look I gathered that fifty seconds was someone's life.

"Let's go," she said.

And we immediately hopped into another pod and awkwardly stood in the cockpit.

The general looked at me like I was an idiot, and perhaps I was.

"Well?" she waved her hand to the pilot's seat.

"Me?"

She seemed to catch onto the fact that she had been slightly rude.

She gave me a sly grin. "Let's see what you're made of."

"How about Galra, Human, and Cosmic Dust. My pilot's skills have nothing to do with my genetic makeup," I said, taking the seat.

I glanced back at the General, and she rolled her eyes.
