One Year Later

Keith

I was on Feyiv with the Black Lion, my wife, mom, and Kolivan. One of the first things we'd done on our journey through the galaxy was bring together the remaining Galra warlords and convince them to stop their fight against each other, and instead, fight for peace. We were able to bring many of them into the Blade of Marmora to help with Lillian's plan of creating a relief organisation rather than a group of spies. Everything about the Blades was already diplomatic.

Today was the day we would choose a board of leaders who would then run against each other in an election that would determine the representatives for the Galactic Coalition. I had no interest in such affairs. I liked being a mediator. Even so, as the half-Galra leader of Voltron, my words meant a lot to the rest of the Galra, especially when standing next to my mother.

"With the return of Planet Daibazaal, the Galra Empire is at a crossroads. For too long, the people of this extraordinary civilization have been manipulated by a dictatorship that placed a misguided sense of self-preservation above all else. It was a tragic, unfortunate series of events that led us down this dark, never-ending path of power and greed. But now we, the citizens of the Galra Empire, have an opportunity to make right all of the injustices set into motion by our forefathers. Because of the sacrifice made by Princess Allura, we have been given a second chance to come together in rebuilding the Galra Empire by joining the Galactic Coalition and ushering in a new era of peace across the universe."

There was cheering after my words, and I was happy to see that the Galra, once known for their violence, was now converted to the side of peace.

Lillian smiled at me, nodding her approval.

"I'm proud of you," she said.

"Now we need to get to Altea," I said.

Today we'd celebrate Allura.

She and I used the Black Lion to fly to Altea, though I had a feeling that we weren't going to be needing the Lions anymore.

"I think they're going to leave soon," Lillian agreed aloud.

"There's been peace for a year. We haven't needed Voltron at all. It's good, but...sad," I said.

"Voltron will always be a part of you, Keith," Lillian comforted. "You'll always have that connection with your Lion."

I smiled.

Yeah.

We landed on Altea, and Lillian and I exited the Black Lion holding hands.

"You know, it's funny that we'll be living on Diabazaal," I said as we began to walk toward the rest of the Paladins.

"I think it's fitting, especially given the organisations we represent and lead, and our lineage." Lillian smiled.

"You're right," I said, smiling back at her.

In the year between our wedding and the celebration of Allura, Lillian had grown close with all the Paladins, and everyone loved her like she had been a part of the team the whole time.

When we approached the table, everyone stood, and we all exchanged hugs.

We began to eat, laughing and making memories. It had been awhile since we'd all been together like this.

"I mean, seriously, though, earth has come a long way. It's a hub for all alien activity now that my dad's stabilised his teludav technology," Pidge said, giving us an update of earth.

It had been months since we'd been there.

"That'll make travel on the Atlas much easier. We'll be able to reach so many more sectors with the improved mobility. Not to mention the supplies we'll save with the shorter journey," Shiro added, ever the diplomat.

"Yeah, yeah! We'll have so much more room for the cooking ingredients." Hunk breathed out. "People are so much easier to reason with when they're full. Man, this diplomacy thing isn't nearly as easy as Allura made it look."

"Right?" I laughed. "But then, she did make everything look easy."

"Speaking of which," Shiro turned to me and Lillian. "How are things going on Daibazaal?"

"We're calling for an election to select the Galran representative for the Galactic Coalition. So that's a step in the right direction," Lillian said.

"Let me guess, they asked you to be their leader and you said no?" Lance asked, turning to look at me with a smirk.

"Yeah, pretty much."

"Classic Keith."

We laughed.

"Allura would be proud of your decision, Keith. I think she knew that you would always be the key to the Galra's future. Just around this table, I see so many lives touched by her actions. For some of us she was a diplomat, a teacher, a leader, and a friend. But to those of us around this table, she will always be family." Coran stood and raised his glass. "To Allura!"

The rest of us raised our glasses too. "To Allura."

We took a picture with Allura's statue in the background after dinner, smiling as though no time had passed and nothing had changed. Allura was, after all, still very much with us. She was our inspiration, the reason we were doing what we were doing. And we couldn't do that without her memory in our hearts.

That evening, I laid in bed with Lillian, not even near sleep when we heard the Lions roar. We ran outside with the other Paladins and watched as our Lions said goodbye to us and flew away.

The universe was safe now, and it was our responsibility to keep it that way.

In the years that followed, everyone played a part in keeping the peace between all civilisations of the universe.

The Holt family established the next generation of Legendary Defenders, improving the Garrison with new courses and updates so that more people could find a job in protecting the universe.

Hunk created a culinary empire, bringing the universe together, one meal at a time while he continued to talk diplomacy.

Lance continued to spread Allura's message while surrounding himself with the things he loved, running a farm with his family to live in Allura's legacy.

Kolivan and Krolia became the Galra representatives to the Galactic Coalition since they had already headed the Blade of Marmora.

And Shiro found his happiness and finally left the battle behind.

Keith and Lillian helped transition the Blade of Marmora to a humanitarian relief organisation, taking over the Atlas to use it in their efforts. They recruited more Blade members, and thrived in their marriage, having twin sons, Josh and Jake, and one daughter, Lavender Kiana.

The universe remained safe. With the legacy of Voltron standing firm and the many efforts to keep the peace, Voltron was never needed again.
