Keith

I ate quickly in the mess hall, and then left to follow Lillian to the arena. The moment she had said that she was going to Central Control, I knew she was lying. I could tell that she needed to release some emotions.

I made my way to the arena and watched her for a while. She didn't run with her mask up, so her face was turning red from the effort to keep going. Lillian was really over-exerting herself, and I knew what that felt like. I had done it many times as well.

I decided to run next to her, maybe freak her out a little bit, so I ran with my blade in hand.

By the time our weapons clashed, both daggers had been shifted into swords. I smirked. Her reaction time matched that of my own. It was amazing how we could put up our walls so quickly, grab our most prized possession, and be ready to defend ourselves, killing if necessary.

"Couldn't sleep?" I asked sarcastically.

"Why would you DO that," she growled.

"Why would you run in the dark?" I countered.

She groaned and pulled her sword away.

"You wanna go?" She asked daringly.

I shook my head, laughing. We had stopped running.

"What's so funny?"

I met her eyes. "Lillian, calm down. I just wanted to see where you were going. And honestly, I probably needed to blow off some steam too."

Subconsciously, she turned her sword into a dagger and then back into a sword...and then back into a dagger. Over and over

Anxiety.

"Let's. Go," she said, moving toward the center of the arena and flicking her dagger into a katana one final time.

I didn't even think about it. I just ran. No mask and a simple dagger.

I need a challenge.

I smirked. She was weakest when she was frustrated.

I dodged her first swing, and quickly kicked her open side. We both backed up a bit, analysing each other.

She was having a moment, of course. Her eyes were vicious and almost glowing, and her skin almost took a purple tint, even in the dark.

Galra.

How she usually always wins when she's frustrated.

Great.

I charged her before she could finish her thoughts.

Bad idea.

I leaped through the air to kick her, but she was quick to take a single step out of the way and let me crash to the floor. Before I even registered hitting the ground, her blade was coming toward me. I caught it mid-swing before it could do any damage to my face. I flipped against her, kicking her stomach, and she joined me on the floor. I pinned her blade arm down. She smirked, and then her blade appeared in the arm I had not pinned down. Quickly, our daggers were swords and they were at each other's necks.

Lillian had returned to normal, smirking.

"Concede," she said.

"I'm not letting you win this," I growled.

I willed my sword back into a dagger and jumped back from her, the edge of her sword catching my face. I felt warm blood trickle down my cheek.

Fantastic.

Then, Lillian was up and we charged again. This time, I made her work a little bit. I sprinted back from her, addressing her weaknesses, and attempting to tire her out. Finally, she swung her blade at me, obviously done with the bullshit I was giving her.

I turned just in time to catch it, but ended up slicing her arm in the process.

Payback.

As we held our blades in the position under our waistlines, I stared into her eyes. They didn't reveal anything other than distraction. As I stared into her bright, ocean colored eyes, she took advantage of me, pushing me up against the wall that was right behind us and pinning my blade arm to the wall. Her blade dissolved from its place at my neck, and I realised it had moved to her sheath.

Lillian was very talented. I was proud of her.

We continued to stare into each other's eyes, and I had a feeling we were both trying not to admit that we were dating.

Girlfriend.

The word felt foreign to my mouth.

And then I kissed her. We were so close anyway, so why not?

I made sure my blade didn't hurt her, and I carefully put it away while our lips were still together. I clasped her hand with my left hand, and rested my right hand on her waist.

"Thanks," she whispered, pulling away long enough to say the word.

"For what?" I breathed, kissing her again.

I could feel her smile. She pulled away to look me in the eyes. "For calming me down. I think I have a clear head now."

I grinned. "You're welcome, Lillian. I'd do this for you any day."

Lillian looked down for a moment, and then decided she wanted one more kiss.

And so we had one more.

A very passionate one.

As a person who usually hated sharing emotions and experiences with people, it was odd to have someone with whom I connected so deeply. But there was something in me that knew it was right. Her lips were warm and soft, and her presence was always calming. I grinned.

I took her face in my hands to get closer, and she wrapped her arms around my neck.

I think she's the one.

After cleaning up our wounds and taking our separate showers, we went back to the Delta barracks. Everyone was asleep, so I decided to do something a little more daring.

Since it had become forbidden to share a bed with her, I slept on the floor right next to her, holding her hand.

Her hands were warm, and very soft, and it calmed me to run my thumb back and forth across the back of her hand.

Lillian

When I woke up, there was a hand grasping mine. And suddenly, the events of the previous night hit me like an airplane.

Our fight.

Our kiss.

Our very intimate kiss.

And his obsession with sleeping next to me.

Our injuries..

I pulled my hand from Keith's grasp to look at my forearm. A long cut decorated my skin.

That's another scar added to the collection.

I sighed.

The Blades was a very difficult commitment at times.

I covered Keith with a blanket to let him sleep. He looked like he needed it. And since I really only had data to look at for the day, I didn't feel the need to wake the unit up at ungodly hours of the morning to train our assess off.

We need a break.

So I went back to sleep.
