Kolivan was waiting for us in the bay. We had called a minor Code Yellow, but other than that, I had no idea why he'd be waiting.
As soon as we all stepped off the ship, he demanded we head to the hospital wing, where we were checked for burns and other injuries. When the worst injuries were a few burns on Keith's back and a few minor burns on my arms, we were allowed to go.
We debriefed with Kolivan and then went into a conference room for our meeting with the Voltron Coalition.
Keith and I sat next to each other, though we didn't even look like we were together.
Are we together?
I shook my head. This was the exact reason why I didn't want to get involved in a relationship. It only distracted me.
Kolivan turned on our call, and we waited for the rest of the Coalition to join the meeting before Princess Allura began speaking.
"As of today, our rebel forces have taken control of one third of the former Galra Empire. But we cannot grow complacent. The Galra Empire is still the dominant force in the universe. However, the tide is changing," she said, and I groaned.
I hated when people sounded way too optimistic.
One of the members of the coalition began to speak.
"The rebel coalition is winning because of you, Princess Allura."
I made a disgusted face.
How cringy.
"You and Voltron," he continued.
Oh, wonderful. He remembered Voltron.
"Mere cycles ago, I felt that my race would breathe its last in Galra chains, but then Voltron appeared on the horizon, and our lives changed forever," he went on.
"This bid for liberty is only possible because of all of our sacrifices. And we still have a long way to go before the entire universe is free," Allura said, once again stating the obvious, and I almost couldn't contain it.
"We'll be behind you every step of the way," the same member said.
"Thank you," Allura said. "We will reconvene soon. Until then."
The other screens cut out, and just the Blades were left with Voltron.
"Did you complete your raids on the targets we sent in our last communication?" Shiro asked.
"Yes. The information we've received from Lotor has consistently checked out," Kolivan said.
"With all these successful missions taking place in such a short period of time, it won't be long before the Galra realises we're using inside information," Pidge noted.
"That's true," I confirmed.
"We should expect the enemy to change protocol soon," Keith said.
"Then we need to act fast and hit as many targets as possible," Lance said, finally saying something useful.
"We'll talk to Lotor and see if there's anything else he can give us," Shiro said.
"I can't stop thinking that we might be an unwitting part of a much larger ulterior motive," Allura said, and that was it.
As soon as the call ended, I looked at Kolivan.
"You do realise that we're being used, correct?" I asked.
