Blast from the past

°(Y/n)'s POV°

A year has passed and I had no idea when the fall of Maria would come. It was frustrating but I tried to calm my anxiety down.

Today was another expedition and it always brings up my anxiety because then I think today's the day! Then it actually isn't. It's kinda frustrating but I eventually looked for the signs. It was hard. Every expedition I get anxious and then it's not the day.

Eventually Time passed and I was giving up hope a little. I decided to adventure the place I use to call home. The Survey Corps's next expedition wasn't until a month and a half so I could kill time a little with a blast from the past.

Some of my friends like my squad, Levi, Hanji and Erwin questioned me about it but I just told them,"Don't worry about me. This just use to be my home. I just want to check it out. I'll be back at HQ tonight, promise."

So I looked around town for an hour as some of my old memories came flooding back to me. "Man, it's been so long..."I whispered to myself.

"Were you from here?" I heard a female voice ask. I looked back and saw Eren's mother, Carla Jeager. She really did look like a female Eren.

"Yea... I use to live with my mother somewhere around here. My best friends' house was also around somewhere." I chuckled.

"Oh okay... If you don't mind me asking... Are you from the Recon Corps?"

This kinda caught me by surprise but I eventually answered her,"Yea... For 3 and half years now."

She hummed,"And how old are you? I'm sorry, I'm just very interested. I mean you look young."

I chuckled,"I am. I'm 23."

"Oh wow... So you're like still a cadet or something to the older people?"

"Actually, I'm a Corporal..."

Now she was surprised. Her mouth was open and she almost dropped her basket,"You're joking?"

"Um... No..." I said unsure of what to do.

I'm not going to lie at first she was a very likable character (even though we didn't see her that much) but actually meeting her was a little intimidating. I mean she's the mother of our main protagonist!

"Wow... Are you like very skilled or something?"

"Um I guess... I mean some people tell me I'm humanities third strongest and Fiercest..."

Now she was even more surprised,"Oh my walls... I bet your family is very proud. Who are they by the way? Maybe I know them."

"Oh... Um... My family died before I joined the military. "

"Oh... I'm so sorry..."

"Ah! Don't be! It wasn't your fault. I should've paid more attention to them..." I said now feeling my depression slip in.

"Oh darling... I'm sure they're very proud of you."

I looked at her for a moment before I smiled softly,"Thank you, that mean a lot."

She smiled brightly,"Now, why don't you show me where you use to live, I might've known your parents."

We walked together as Time went by and then I saw it. It was my house. It still looked good and I think people live in there now.

"That's my house." I said pointing to it.

She gasped,"Oh my! I knew your mother and father. Mister and Miss (L/n), correct?"

"Yes, that's them. How do you know them?"

"Your father, before he left town for work, he'd sometimes be at the bar I use to work at to get a drink and chat to his buddies. He always loves to talk about you and your mother. Oh and your mother, me and she would pass by and talk for a bit. She always talked about you. She's actually the one that inspired me to have Eren, my son."

I gasped,"You're joking?!"

"No. They were such a lovely couple and good people too. It was devastated once I found out they died.  I am truly sorry." She hugged me.

I was surprised but eventually hugged her back. She was such a nice person and it made me sad to only now find out she was part of my past and the fact that she's going to die this year was very upsetting to me.

"You know... Why don't you come over for tea. I'd love to catch up. I could tell you all the things me and your parents did."

I smiled softly before agreeing.
Turns out we were also neighbors!
We drank tea and caught up on each other's lives. She told me stories about my parents and we practically laughed all the time.

"And so I-" Carla said before her husband came into the room.

"Oh I'm sorry, I didn't know we had a guest." He said before sitting down at the table.

"(Y/n), this is my husband, Grisha. Grisha, the is (M/n) and (F/n)'s daughter (Y/n). Remember the couple that inspired us to have Eren?" Carla said.

"Oh yes I remember them. Such nice people." He said while sorting out his medicine.

"Did you find the medicine you were looking for?" She asked

"Oh yes. It was practically hiding from me." He answered

"Doctor I'm guessing?" I asked so that I wouldn't look suspicious.

"Yes, that is correct." He said.

I nodded in understanding. Carla then got up and was about to start the dishes. I decided to help her,"May I help?"

"Oh you don't have to."

"Nonsense, I'd love to help. Maybe you and I could caught up more tomorrow? Maybe I could repay you in some way?"

"Oh yes! You're such a wonderful child. I'd love to tell you more about your parents and no need to repay me. You being here is more then enough." She smiled brightly.

We started doing the dishes while talking about my time at the scouts. She was a little reluctant but found some of the stuff I said interesting.

When we were done I decided it was best for me to get back to HQ. We were outside saying our goodbyes before I left. It was such a pleasure to see her.

I wish I known her before the military but I had other things to worry about at that time. I got back to HQ and rested for the night.

~The next day~

The next day, me and Carla talked further. She told me all the stories about my parents and a lot of them were very funny. I told her about what I do and did in the military and sometimes she'd stop me to ask a question like,"But isn't it dangerous?" Then I'd answer questions with honestly,"Yes, it is but who else was going to save them?"

The day went by quickly and not only did we talk, we went around town to get some things. It was so much fun. I almost forgot that she was going to die and that we were in a Universe where there were Titans.

We got back to her house and did the dishes together. She told me about her family and how Eren was such a trouble maker. I couldn't help but laugh.

Eventually, it was time for me to go.
"Thank you for telling me about my parents and about your family." I say.

"Oh thank you for helping me out with groceries and telling me about your life." She hugged me once again and this time I hugged her back without hesitation.

"I hope to see you again soon."

I smiled at her,"Me too."
