Lost... (AOT Levi x Fem!Reader)

Episode 22: Dark Yet Light Atmosphere

"I see you're awake." Erwin came walking while me and Levi finished talking and left.

"Hi.." I said weakly.

"You okay? You're injuries are pretty bad. Ackerman said that once she found you, you were almost bleeding to death. Gave Levi a big shock honestly, even me and Hanji." He sat down next to me.

"Yea... I felt like I was dying but I knew I couldn't leave just yet." I joked.

But his smile never came on his lips. He just gave me a serious look,"What happened? Eren is still unconscious so we don't know what happened, I only know by what the Ackerman's said."

I sat up slowly before placing a hand on my head,"Honestly? I was trying to protect everyone but... I failed. Aside from that, I saw an extra Scouts Uniform but it had no name on it. So I just thought it was an old dead scout's... Guess it was her's... Sorry... I guess I'm just a failure today huh?" I chuckled at my own bad joke.

"(Y/n)... You did good today. You're here now and that's what matters-"

"I made a promise to protect Levi's squad, Erwin. It's my fault they're... " Tears started welling up on my face and it felt like my heart shattered.

"Even so, you have to carry on. Right now isn't the time to sulk, okay? I need you and your strength right now, Okay?" Erwin placed a hand on my shoulder before hugging me.

I couldn't help but just lay in his warmth for a bit before wiping my tears that unknowingly slid down my face and I turned to Erwin,"You're right, I'm sorry. We're still outside, right? Do you need any help?"

"For the moment... Just rest, okay? Get better and we'll use the information we have now back at HQ." Erwin stood up and left.

Leaving me to my thoughts...

"... Second, you are far more important than you think. I'd even say, more important than Eren Yeager."

"(Y/n) please... I know you hate me now but there is more to this story then you know."

"Hate me all you want but you can't run away from your future or destiny."

"Destiny... What did she mean? I have so many questions..." I looked down at my side and lightly touched it.

Nothing

It felt as though there wasn't an injury at all. Am I...?

"(Y/n), thank goodness you're Okay!" I heard Sam yell and run up to me.

"Are you okay?! I heard you got seriously injured!" He touched my forehead but I pushed him away.

"Stop your act." I whispered,"She told me."

His facial expression turned from worry to down right horrified,"I-i... Corporal... (Y/n)... I'm sorry. Please don't hate-"

"I don't. It's just..." I sighed heavily,"Stay away from me for a little please... I don't know if I can trust you right now or even ever..."

"You can." He grabbed my shoulders,"It's just..."

We both fell silent. My trust for Sam is... It's complicated. I know he's just doing what he's told but-

"(Y/n), we're moving again." Levi stood still,"Sam, get on your horse. (Y/n), can you walk?"

"Um... I'm sure I can."

"Good. You can rather ride with me or your own horse."

"I'll uh..." I turned to Sam who was walking away, I felt my heart fall down to my stomach. I turned back to Levi before getting up slowly,"I'll ride my horse since I don't want to injure your ankle even more. To which I'll help you take care of it once we're home."

I walked slowly to my horse after giving Levi a peck on the cheek,"What... Did I just kiss Levi's cheek?"

I touched my lips slightly, still feeling his warmth,"I wish I kissed him on the l-"

I stopped in my track and saw the dead bodies. This is always the worst part of the job. I felt slightly sick so I covered my mouth and turned around. I breathed in and out before deciding to cut out the Wings off of Tom Vell - who I remember as number 9 from graduation. Poor guy, he's lucky he lived this long.

I shoved it in my pocket and got on my horse. Sam wasn't far but thankfully kept his distance. Levi, Erwin and Hanji were at the from while I kept at the back behind them.

We rode for a while until chaos erupted, why? Because the 2 scout males who I can't remember their names went to pick up their dead friends body! I understand they just want to give him a proper funeral but unfortunately they are in the scouts and in the Attack On Titan world where none of your plans will succeed!

After that whole chaos went, we and our horses rested for a bit. I walked up to Levi and that blonde and held out the Wings,"Here. It was your friend's - Ivan's..."

He took it and broke down in tears. Levi looked at me and I took him aside,"Keep hers. I know you would've given it to him but-"

"Who's was that?" Levi interrupted.

I looked at him for a moment,"A friend's from graduation. Didn't expect him to go so soon but you know..."

He held out Petra's Wings to me but I shoved it back in his pocket,"No. I don't want it. I didn't know him that well so please... Keep hers. I don't think I could handle seeing it..."

He nodded before ruffling my hair and getting on his horse," You can't blame yourself forever, you know. But uh... Thanks, You're stubborn but maybe that's what I like about you."

I held my head as he rode off,"He... Likes me..?"

We got inside the walls with our head hung low. I hate this part. I decided to throw over my hood and stay next to Levi. The crowd was throwing insult after insult but all I could do was look forward with my hood up and walk with Levi back to HQ.

"Excuse me! You're (Y/n), correct? I'm Petra's Father."

I kept walking and didn't want to look at him. I don't want to see the hurt in his eyes...

He started talking about how Petra admired me so much and wanted to be close to me. He then turned to Levi and told him about her wanting to marry him.

I turned my head slightly to Petra's Father,"I'm sorry..."

"Huh?"

"You're daughter... She was a lovely young woman. I-i... I tried to protect her but-"

"No..."

"She wanted to tell you that she loves you very much and will always be in your heart." I pulled out a letter.

The man stopped in his tracks once I handed it to him. Me and Levi kept walking along with the scouts.

"What was that?"

"... Petra's letter. She gave it to me yesterday. I don't know why but..." I pulled the hood more over my head to cover my eyes,"She said that I had to give it to her father if something happened to her today. I tried denying it but... Turns out... She was right."

Levi held my hand,"I'm sorry..."

"Me too..." I whispered while holding his hand tightly.
