S2E4 Fighting in the Dark

"Do you have enough gas and swords to fight?" Nanaba asked me.

I quickly checked my swords and gas to see I had a few swords and half tanks left,"Not enough to go full bizarre on them but if I don't use my gas and just my hooks, I could take out those closes to the tower."

"That's risky but I trust you." Nanaba took out her swords,"Rookies stay where you are and let the ODM gear do what it was designed for."

We jumped from the tower and began to slaughter as many Titans as possible while the rookies went inside to try to border up the doors. I tried my hardest to not use all my gas but it was difficult since it was designed to be used to fight faster.

"Damnit." I sliced a Titan's nape before hooking into the tower. I looked over and saw the others doing fine so far.

Nanaba and Gelgar were working together perfectly before hooking up the tower next to me,"That's mostly it for the big ones."

"It's a good thing we have this tower."

"Yeah, we might actually survive."

"Don't jinks us." I glared.

"We'll go check on the recruits!" Lynne yelled before going up the tower with Henning.

A sudden loud zooming sound came ringing in our ears,"What's that sound?"

It landed somewhere we couldn't see properly before we gasped and saw our horses dead. I stood in shook,"I completely forgot about this part!"

(No like honestly I forgot about this part but thankfully I checked the episode (・_・;) luckily... )

I glared at the far end Wall before the sound came again. I quickly looked up and started going up towards Lynne and Henning,"Get down!"

But I was too late. The rocks hit them like they were nothing but flies. I took cover holding my hands up to cover my head. Gelgar and Nanaba took a hold of their squad members before placing them down.

"What was that?!" Connie came running along with the others.

"It's no use. They both died instantly."

"This can't be..."

I checked their gas and swords but it was all unfortunately done, so that will be completely useless, "Shit... I wasn't fast enough..." I muttered.

"It's not your fault." Nanaba set her hand on my shoulder.

"It's him! The one that walked off towards the wall! The Beast Titan did this!" Connie gasped,"A group of Titans approaching! More than twice the number from earlier!"

"What'd you say?!"

"Their timing is too perfect, like it's a part of some strategy. I get the feeling they've been toying with us from the start."

A loud roar was heard from the Beast Titan before many other bigger Titans started smashing the tower we were on. There were too many Titans to kill, that three wouldn't be enough. I looked at Nanaba before we nodded at each other before jumping off again to kill as many as our gas and swords could.

I killed three near the tower but my gas tanks were empty so I had mostly stuck to the walls but it was becoming to much of a problem right now.

"This tower won't hold much longer."

"I only have a small amount of gas left."

"What about you two?"

"I don't have any gas... Not enough blades left." I answered.

"No gas here, and I used up all of my blades. Those blunt ones the last you have left?"

"Yeah..."

"How many did the five of us kill?"

"I don't know. I didn't have the luxury to count."

"I was to focused to notice." I glared down at the Titans reaching up at us.

"You know what? I think I did a pretty good job myself. But the thing is... I wish I could have a drink before I go."

Nanaba and my eyes widened,"Gelgar..."

"Sorry, Nanaba and (Y/n)... I must've hit my Head... I can't hold... Any longer."

"Gelgar!!"

Gelgar than fell to his death to which Nanaba tried to save him. I tried grabbing onto Nanaba but a Titan hand grabbed at me instead. I sliced off the hand to which I quickly shot up to the tower to get to safely. I looked around for Nanaba before spotting the same Titan trying to grab me.

I hooked onto the Titan before slicing it's nape and going back up to the rookies. I then realized Nanaba and Gelgar were still down there. I was about to jump down to get them but Nanaba's screams caught me off guard. Ymir grabbed my shoulder and pushed me away from the scene.

I wanted to move and save them but my feet were stuck to the floor. Their screams echoing into my ears and the rookies watched in terror of their Superiors' deaths. I fell to my knees and tried to move my body again.

I was struck with fear.

Nothing was working and it was terrifying me so bad that my heart was pounding out of my chest and my breath started to quicken.

• Warning: Anxiety attack and depression •

"Shit, this is bad.
I couldn't even save them.
Fuck, I need to help them! But My legs won't move.
Get a grip, (Y/n)– no I can't do anything... I'm useless.
Even after all these years I'm still a useless, mindless teenager." My heart was racing and my breath quickened.

Silent tears were threatening to fall that I held my head close to my knees to not show anyone I'm weak.

"I'm not good enough. They died because of me.
I wasn't strong enough. I had to protect them but instead I protect only myself!
No, they were destined to die– no that doesn't make it right!"

• Warning Over •

Nanaba's screams ended but you could still hear bones cracking. The rookies felt hopeless due to not being able to help because they had no weapons.

Everyone was fixated on what to do, they hadn't even notice (Y/n)'s state. All but one. He walked towards her and set his hand on her shoulder.

"Hey Corporal, are you okay?"

She looked up and saw Reiner. She looked away and quickly wiped her tears,"Fine."

"I'm going to fight with this." Ymir's words caught everyone by surprise.

"Ymir... What are you planning?" Reiner asked.

"Who knows? I don't even know myself." Ymir walked up to Christa and placed her hands on her shoulders.

"Ymir..."

"Christa. You've probably forgotten all about it by now..." A loud crash was made by the Titans below us,"But thus might be the end, so... Try to remember... that promise we made training on that snowy mountain. I have no right to tell you how to live your life. So actually, this is nothing more than a hope of mine... I want you... to live a life you're proud of."

Ymir started walked to the edge of the tower before testing how sharp the knife was,"Remember our promise, Christa."

She then ran,"Ymir! Wait!" She leaped off of the edge,"Ymir!" Before cutting her hand deep.

A lightning was heard and surrounded Ymir's body before revealing a small yet sharp teeth and nails Titan form.
