When Nolan, Marva Lynn, Kevin, Lisa and Marla Lynn unsuccessfully try to get Kyle to speak, Marva Lynn tells the family the story of when Lisa said her first word.
It was 1955, a year after Lisa was born, and a few weeks before cousin Paul graduated from high school, Lisa finally said her first word, "Mama."
Back to present, Kyle said, "Daddy," and Nolan heard him talk, and on Christmas day, Kyle's first birthday, Marva Lynn welcomed her fifth child, Laurie Mae. Nolan said he likes the name Laurie, and it fits right in. Meanwhile, Paul, Grady, Ed, Fran, Bill, Mick, Roy, Fred, Karl and Milt were surprised that Laurie is cute.
