The episode begins in front of St. Boniface Elementary, as the fourth grade teacher rounds up her class, including Kevin, and prepares them for a field trip to the nuclear power plant. Otto, the bus driver, pulls up to the curb, as the other kids find their seats. The teacher yells at Kevin to get on the bus. When he scurries to find a seat, he is bummed to see the only one left is right next to Leon, who is always queasy and pukes on every bus ride. As Otto takes the long way to the power plant, Kevin struggles to behave on the bus ride. The teacher warns Kevin that one more outburst will result in him singing to the class at the front of the bus. Rick and Ron, who are sitting behind Kevin, plan to get him in some more trouble. At the same time, Kevin asked the twins to fight, however, the teacher asks Kevin why can't he be more like Rick and Ron and then makes good on her threat and forces Kevin to sing in front of the class and the song is "The Battle of New Orleans." The bus finally arrives at the power plant, and Kevin congratulates Leon for making the entire bus ride without getting sick, by slapping him on the back, which results in the latter puking anyway.
As the children walk behind and listen, Rick and Ron tell Kevin about how their dad, who also works at the power plant, says that Nolan is an incompetent worker. Cut to Nolan, who is sitting in a small motorized cart with his feet propped up, and eating a doughnut. Nolan comments to a co-worker that Kevin's class will be here any minute, and he drives off in search of him. The kids continue their tour, while walking on a catwalk above the working area of the plant. Just then, Nolan turns the corner in his cart, underneath Kevin and the other kids. Kevin observes Kevin and calls out to him, as Nolan looks up to wave back at Kevin he does not pay attention to where he is going and crashes into a vent pipe, causing it to leak dangerous gas. The supervisor nearby, who happens to be Rick and Ron's father, demands to understand who caused the accident. When all the workers point at Nolan, the supervisor tells Nolan he is fired. He then looks up and sees his twin sons and waves, and they wave back as a humiliated Kevin hides his face.
The next day, Nolan is still the P.E. teacher and a high school coach, he still works hard with cousins Paul, Grady, Ed and Fran and their friend Jim, who was black. Paul was twice divorced with no children and married his third wife. Grady was once divorced with no children and married his second wife. Ed and Fran were both married. Paul's first wife is Doris Selig and his second wife is Beverly Seelye. His third wife is Jane Sellen from LuVerne, Minnesota. Grady's first wife is Charlene Chatfield. His second wife is Nancy Christianson from Bemidji, Minnesota. Ed's wife is Marcia Chapman from Delano, Minnesota, and Fran's wife is Jeanne Frame from Pine River, Minnesota.
