While Nolan, Kevin and Lisa are watching television, Marva Lynn excitedly announces that she is going to audition for a local musical production of A Streetcar Named Desire. She wants to meet new people, since she usually spends all day caring for Kyle. Kevin and Lisa react with indifference and continues to watch cartoons on the television, and Marla Lynn practices her first guitar. However, Nolan makes his case clear that he is against Marva Lynn's interest in acting and wants her to stay at home and cater to his every need. Furious, Marva Lynn chooses to go through with the audition to spite him. Marva Lynn is cast in the role of Blanche DuBois in Oh! Streetcar, the musical version of A Streetcar Named Desire at the St. Boniface Community Center. She is having a hard time with her more emotional scenes. Acting opposite Milt as Stanley Kowalski, he tries to encourage her to go through with the breaking the bottle scene.
The day before the performance, Marva Lynn and Milt are again practicing the bottle scene as Nolan arrives to drive Kyle home. Nolan repeatedly interrupts the rehearsal and is subsequently kicked out by bodyguards. He then heads back to his car and honks for Marva Lynn to come out, and she refuses. Finally fed up with Nolan's impatience, Marva Lynn finally smashes the bottle and lunges at Milt. Although Milt slaps her through the mirror and she is hospitalized for a week for the injured face.
A week later, Marva Lynn's face is doing well, her unborn baby is fine and she acts again until the opening. Although Fred and Mary Ann welcomed their first child Greg on the fourth of July, and Mick and Kay welcomed their first child Marty two weeks later.
Meanwhile, Paul, Grady, Ed, Fran, Bill, Mick, Roy, Fred and Karl were at the Community Center as did Nolan, and they watch Marva Lynn and Milt play, and they did a great job acting well.
