I flew out and landed in the window of the apartment. "I'm gonna go change in my room" I said, I hid Kara's ring inside one of my lightsabers, I wrapped it in bubble wrap so it wouldn't scratch. I knew Kara would never look there. I came back out "I don't want to go to work tomorrow" I said and sat on the couch. I picked up my Xbox controller and put on my headset. I played Call of Duty a bit and then I turned it off.
"So how was your meeting with Clark?"
"Good, he gave me some advice, it was really good, I like your cousin"
"Me too. So what did you guys talk about"
"Just, got to know him, I thought he'd want to know the man that was dating his cousin"
"Alright, well, guess what"
"Christmas is four days. We work Monday and Tuesday and then Christmas is thursday."
"Oh, well, looks like you're gonna get to open your present soon."
"You'll get to open yours too"
"Intriguing"
"So, I was thinking, do you wanna go see Eliza the day after Christmas, Alex and Maggie will be there too"
"Yeah, we can go"
"Alright, I'll tell her"
"You are amazing"
"What do you mean"
"Your beautiful, kind, compassionate, your heart is bigger than Krypton, and those are just a few of the reasons that I love you girl of steel"
"I love you too"

I kissed Kara, putting one of my hands in her hair and the other on her waist. Kara deepened the kiss, igniting a fiery passion that would not burn out quickly. We kissed for a long time, both of us quickly running out of breath. When we pulled apart the kiss still felt too short. Kara leaned into me and I held her. I didn't know I could love her more than I already did, but I was proven wrong tonight. We hung out that night, talking, kissing, getting closer than we had ever before. "I love you" I said "I love you too, so much" Kara said and I kissed her. We stayed up a bit later into the night. Kara had us watch a romantic comedy. I admit those movies were growing on me, maybe it was just Kara, but eventually we went to bed.

I woke up to a blaring alarm "Where's the fire?" I said startled. "There's no fire, we just have work. I let us sleep in. Since we can fly in to work." Kara said in a soft tone "Oh right" I said and layed back down. "Five more minutes," I said. 5 minutes later the alarm clock was going off again. I slammed the snooze button on the top, my hand crushing it. I reluctantly got up and went to the bathroom. I used my speed to get ready and then Kara and I flew to Noonan's for coffee.

We arrived at the office. "I'm so glad you're okay," Winn said, hugging me. "I'm sorry about your dad, but he lives on through the force" Winn said and I chuckled. I sat at my desk and a few minutes later I heard my name "Jason!" Ms. Grant said and I walked to her office.

"Yes Ms. Grant"
"Welcome back"
"Oh yeah, sorry I was out so long. Me and Kara got sick. I got better faster, and then my dad died"
"Yes, i'm sorry about that"
"Thank you"
"So, James can catch you up on what you missed and there is an article I want you to write"
"What article"
"Front page article. About the Flash"
"Wait why me?"
"See if your science can explain him, and I thought you'd want to write this"
"Of course. Thank you so much Ms. Grant"
"Your welcome, and Jason?"
"Yeah"
"You make Kara happy, I can tell from all the way over here."
"All right, bye Ms. Grant"
"Bye, and that article. Chop Chop"

I walked back to my desk and used my speed to do all my work. My computers hid my hands. I worked on my stifle a bit, reading some of it out loud

"The Flash, National City's New hero."
"He works with Supergirl to fight crime and protect the city"
"Has been missing since his run in with the notorious evil speedster, Zoom"
"Zoom hasn't been seen since either, has he taken a break, lost his speed, been imprisoned?"
"The Flash has only showed us a small bit of what he's capable of, but I know that we can trust him to help in times of need"

I turned in my article to Ms. Grant. She silently read it

"This is really good Jason. You'll be glad to see it on the front page of today's addition"
"Thank you"
"What's your headline?"
"Uh, The Flash, speeding his way into our lives"
"Perfect"

I came back out and finished the day, it was quiet today, no crimes needed to be stopped. I went to go run an errand. I went to the DEO to ask Alex something

"So my dad"
"Yeah"
"Is there any way you guys can do a funeral for him?"
"Yeah we can, I had a feeling you'd want something small for him, just friends."
"Yeah"
"We can set it up, Is this Sunday, after Christmas okay"
"Yeah. And we're gonna put him next to my mom, at Central City cemetery"
"Okay, do you want to see him"
"Yes"

Alex nodded and led me to my dad. I held back tears. I wanted to get him out of here, he didn't deserve his death "Hi dad" I said, waiting for an answer that I knew would never come

"I'm sorry, Sorry I couldn't save you. You don't deserve this, you are a good man, All you did was take care of me, and I couldn't do the same. I'm sorry okay, I'm sorry. But I hope you're in a better place, I hope you're with mom.Tell her I said hi, tell her I love you guys."

I was still holding back tears. I walked out and went to Zoom's cell. I wanted to kill him.

"You deserve to die, Zoloman"
"Going on about this again are we."
"My father was a good man, he didn't deserve what you did to him"
"Maybe not, but I still need to make you like me"
"I'll never be like you"
"We'll see about that"
