Insecurities

   It was a few days later, Kara woke me up "Good morning" I said, still a little out of it "Good morning" Kara returned. I layed back down, still waking up "No, come on you're gonna be late for work" Kara informed me. "Five more minutes mom" I said waving her off, Kara giggled and I smiled at that. I got out of bed and got dressed. I put on casual clothes and my Flash ring. I kissed Kara "Wanna come with me for coffee?" I asked "I thought you'd never ask" Kara replied and we walked out. I decided to ask her about Mon-el.

"You're not gonna leave me are you?"
"What do you mean."
"Mon-el. I can tell you still feel for him, what you feel I don't know, only that I don't think your as over him as you thought"
"I, uh"
"Kara, I don't keep secrets from you, except for the proposal until I was ready but that's it. Please return me the favor"
"Jason"
"Even, if the answer destroys me, I want to know"
"I still feel for Mon-el, I always will, but I love you Jason, only you, always and forever."
"Okay"
"Do you believe me"
"Yes, I do, thank you for being honest."

    I kissed Kara and we both went to work. I went in to talk to Mon-el

"Jason"
"Mon-el"
"I noticed Kara was awfully comfortable with you yesterday"
"Id hope she would be, seeing as I'm her fiancé"
"Fiancé? Interesting"
"You jealous"
"No, I just used to date her."
"I know."
"You know all about me don't you"
"Not really."
"What do you know"
"Enough"
"So when you guys tying the knot"
"TBD"
"Heh"
"Something funny?"
"Just that you think Kara actually loves you"
"Seven years and you're still not over her?"
"Your not worthy of her"
"Why don't you say that again."
"I think you heard me"
"Your lucky your in a cell"
"What're you gonna do, run away really fast"
"Who are you to talk, you abused your powers, using them for money. At least I actually listen to Kara, instead of ignoring whatever she says, especially when there is civilian lives on the line"
"I think your the one that's lucky I'm in this cell"
"Lucky I wouldn't have to clean up your blood."
"Why don't you open this and we settle this like men"

I was up near the glass, Mon-el had really touched a nerve. "Jason, stand down" Alex said. "I will talk to you later" She said to Mon-el and Alex took me to a sparring room.

"What the hell is wrong with you"
"He's my problem"
"Is this about Kara?"
"I'm fine"
"You are not fine Jason, I've seen it in your eyes. You're capable of some very bad things. You need to keep that in check, you cannot let the darkness consume you"
"Do you want to know what's actually wrong, huh? I'm scared out of my mind. Kara is gonna leave me, she is serious about Mon-el, what if she goes back to him. There I am again, all alone. I can't sleep at night because I stay awake thinking of my favorite memories with Kara, hoping they won't be all I have left of her. I can't get hurt again, I don't know what I'll do if that happens"
"I, uh, that's deep"
"No shit, I know what it's like to be abandoned by my girlfriend. But Kara is different, I care about her more than anyone I've ever met, it'll kill me if she leaves, or I'll kill someone else."
"Kara would never do that"
"How do you know, you saw her when she was with Mon-el, She actually loved him, now I'm not so sure she loves me"

    I sat down and ran my hand through my hair. I was trying to hold it together. 

"Jason, are you okay"
"No, Alex I'm not okay. There has been one person in my life who hasn't left or died yet. That's Bruce, Kara was one of those people too, but that's gonna change soon"
"You don't know that"
"You would if you saw her the other night"
"What happened"
"She cried, going on about how it was her fault what happened to Mon-el. The only person she gets that torn up over is me."
"What can I do to help"
"There's nothing, I'm gonna leave, take an hour or two and clear my head."
"I think that's a good idea"
