the front door closed with a loud thud that echoed through the narrow hallway. as soon as he was inside, wonwoo dropped his grocery bags and ruffled through his freshly permed curls, shaking off the snowflakes. winter was at its peak and because of the nearing snowstorm, school had closed two weeks before the annual christmas holiday.

while wonwoo's parents were gone like usual, he had taken the responsibility to get his weekly groceries. though he had to admit, he hadn't expected it to be this cold. wonwoo preffered to stay inside anyways, how was he supposed to know that the temperatures had been this far beneath zero the entire time. if only he had followed mingyu's advice and worn a pair of gloves and a scarf.

"told you you should have dressed up warmer." wonwoo looked up and noticed only now that mingyu leaned against the doorpost of the living room, his arms crossed with an amused grin tugging on his lips.

"oh shut up." wonwoo grumbled, taking off his coat and sneakers with shaky hands. just when he was about to grab the two plastic bags, mingyu had snatched them from his reach and had taken a sprint to the living room.

"just sit down, i'll take care of this and make us some hot coco!" mingyu yelled from somewhere in the house, which wonwoo guessed was the kitchen as most of the supplies were stocked in the little drawers above and underneath the counter.

with a thankful smile plastered to his face, wonwoo walked over to the couch, enjoying the room's cozy silence. darkness had fallen over the country as it was a few hours past dinner, nine pm at most. the curtains of the living room were closed, not allowing the whitish light of the moon inside, only a singular lamp above the dining table spreading light across the room.

wonwoo had his hands clamped between his knees in an attempt to heat himself up a little, wishing to stop trembling. despite the fact that wonwoo loved winter and the wonders it brought along, he had a passionate hate for the disgracefully cold temperatures. though he complained a lot about summer's heat as well, neither of the temperatures seemed to satisfy wonwoo's desires.

something spring-like, perfectly balanced and in-between, was what jeon wonwoo preferred.

"enjoy your drink, sir." mingyu appeared out of nowhere, placing two cups of steaming hot chocolate on the coffee table, pretending to be a high-classed bartender.

"well, thank you sir. it's the fact that i don't have any money on me right now, else i would have given you a generous tip for your hard work." wonwoo spoke through chattering teeth, playing along with the little act mingyu had started.

"well well well, a generous tip you say. how about you give me something else in return, huh?" mingyu sat down on the couch next to wonwoo, who sat with his legs pulled up against his chest all the way in the corner. with a sly smirk the younger leaned in dangerously close, his hot breath ghosting over wonwoo's lips.

"and what is it that you would rather have?" wonwoo continued bravely, now having a furious blush painted on his cheeks which he doubted was from the cold.

"this, maybe?" mingyu connected their lips together, smiling through their kiss. it was just a simple peck, but even after they had been together for half a year it still managed to speed up both their heartbeats.

"that's still you making a move, so i don't think it counts." wonwoo said, a shy smile playing on his face.

"i would still like to take that as a tip, my dearest. we're equal now." mingyu grinned, shamelessly planting another short peck on wonwoo's lips before moving further away. "oh and next time you go out, please just take my advice and dress up at least somewhat warmer."

wonwoo carefully followed every movement mingyu made, eyeing him standing up from the couch to grab something on the other side of the room. both mingyu and wonwoo were well aware that the older could be quite stubborn from time to time. and of course with that came the price he had to pay. as if for now, that meant his body shivering from the horrible cold.

"but, you should praise yourself lucky to have a boyfriend like me." mingyu came back, holding onto a blanket as he shot a playful wink over at wonwoo. "now get in here, we're sharing this blanket."

mingyu sat down on the couch, feeling how wonwoo shuffled closer to him and carefully leaned his weight against him. he draped the blanket over wonwoo and his own shoulder and huddled them both in it, securing them from the awful cold that surrounded the space.

"you know what's a good cure against feeling cold?" wonwoo shook his head in response, having in fact no idea how on earth you could cure something like that. "cuddles." he giggled, acting like a puppy as he dropped himself against wonwoo and wrapped his arms around his waist.

"this feels warm.." wonwoo had to admit, nuzzling his nose against mingyu's temple and wrapping his arms equally as tight around mingyu's shoulders, greedily taking in more of his body warmth.

"i always hear you complaining about the temperature yet still you claim that winter is your favorite season. how come?" mingyu asked, making wonwoo chuckle about how ridiculous it actually sounded.

"i think it's just the view you have when you're walking outside. take at morning as an example." wonwoo spoke, passion sparking from his eyes. even mingyu had to move back to catch his perfervid expression, not missing a single beat of it. "it's that early morning sun that makes the ice spark like diamonds. trees and its branches covered with a thin layer of white snow, and all those lakes that are just entirely frozen and sparkling. it's just so.. mystic and beautiful."

"you know that i can't disagree with you when you talk about something with so much passion, right?" mingyu said, shamelessly taking in all wonwoo's facial features from up close, admiring the piece of art in his arms. "and you're actually right too. winter is really beautiful indeed."

"hey, speaking of winter. seokmin said we could visit his father's lodge a little earlier than the rest, right?" wonwoo's eyes sparked the same excitement again, reminiscing about the home-like place where he had first met mingyu. "god i can't wait to see mister lee again."

"i can't wait either." mingyu nuzzled his nose in the crook of wonwoo's neck, his fingers trailing up and down wonwoo's chest as a form of reassurance.

after a small moment of silence mingyu muttered out "you're still shivering babe.", worried about why wonwoo hadn't stopped shaking. feeling cold had been a bothersome habit ever since wonwoo was a kid. he didn't know any better at this point.

"i just feel a little cold. it will probably be over in a minute."

a sudden chuckle was heard and wonwoo knew exactly that it would take less than a minute for the atmosphere to completely switch up. it was that certain mischievous tone in mingyu's voice that sent a shiver down his spine, which wonwoo doubted was caused by the temperature.

"i mean, there's this one activity you and i both like that includes a lot of heat. we can go upstairs if you want me to help you with it, if you know what i mean?" mingyu moved up to get at the same eye height as wonwoo, checking if the male felt the same about it.

"i like that.." wonwoo gave in, feeling how mingyu reached for his hand and slowly pulled him off the couch, leading him towards the staircase as their eyes never unlocked.

their night would be particularly interesting if wonwoo could say so..
