meadows spread out over miles and miles of hills filled with millions of little daisies, trees growing closer together the more forest they passed and a beautiful clear sky allowing the sun to beam warmth on their exposed skins.

those were the landscapes they had passed before driving through the wooden arch, welcoming them to the vacation resort in the middle of the woods. it was the exact opposite of what wonwoo expected it to be.

the car was parked in front of a huge wooden building while their dad was inside, picking up the key to the house they were staying in for the upcoming two weeks and to get the remaining information.

everywhere around them were tiny wooden cabins built, the bigger ones even having a porch with a couple of chairs placed on them to sit outside when the weather allowed you to. the only question that filled wonwoo's mind upon seeing the annoyingly cute houses was how many bedrooms the houses contained. because he wasn't so sure the surface would be big enough to allow them some privacy.

and he would rather sleep outside than to share a room with his little sister, which so happened to be a bad experience from the year before, where he had gotten barely any sleep because of his hyperactive sister who kept him awake the entire night.

"i'm back!" his father sat back in the drivers seat, holding up the key to show that they were all ready to go, "there wasn't any further important information. just the regular." he said, before turning back to the steering wheel and letting the engine roar with a swift motion of his hand.

"how close are we to the beach?" his wife asked, making his lips curl up in a mischievous smirk.

"oh you'll see honey, you'll see." he said, following the road that lead them between all the other houses, where families just like them were busy unpacking all of their belongings, unloading their cars and dragging the bags inside.

"are we almost there?" somi squeaked, her enthusiasm the same as when they took off two hours ago, asking the same question for the nth time. is she even capable of feeling tired? wonwoo questioned himself.

"are you stupid? we just arrived on the vacation park, of course we're almost there." wonwoo sighed in disbelieve, failing to calm his sister down.

"wonwoo be nice to your sister, she's only four." his mother scolded him sternly, being used to his attitude towards practically everyone in their family.

"you can't tell me a four year old has such a big lack of intelligence. come on, you literally just told her we're at the final destination." wonwoo nagged, defending his opinion.

"she's only four! you were like that too when you were little wonwoo, come on get rid of that attitude now. let's start off our vacation with some positivity!" miss jeon exclaimed, trying to get rid of wonwoo's childish behavior. or better said, to shut him up completely.

"well i wasn't like that." he grumbled underneath his breath, which (unlucky for him) was loud enough to be audible for everyone in the occupied vehicle.

"wonwoo, please stop the discussion with your mother. we all know you can't win from her and i really don't want to start off like we did last year." his father interfered on the discussion that was being held, obviously picking sides with his wife.

"thank you sweeti- wait does that mean you-"

"-i love you very much honey, let's not do this now." his father spoke through gritted teeth, forcing out a smile to show her his honesty, "look what we got here! if that ain't ours!"

luck was on his side, because after mister jeon smoothly changed the subject and pointed out the tiny wooden house, occupied with a porch, his wife instantly dropped the discussion and looked at the small building in adoration.

"oh, it's beautiful!" she squealed, bringing her hands up to her cheeks in excitement when they parked the car on their own reserved parking spot right next to the cabin.

now wonwoo finally got a closer look at the wooden cubicle, his hopes on a room for himself faded away completely. it was even smaller than what he had seen of it from afar and he regretted not staying at home like he first planned to do.

"let's get inside, shall we?" with a hysterical scream, which definitely made wonwoo deaf, somi unbuckled her belt, forgetting about the plushie she had been holding onto for the entire ride and abandoning it as soon as she pulled down the door handle, running towards the small house as fast as her little legs could bring her.

the moment both wonwoo's parents got out, the boy slammed his head back against his seat in frustration. "fuck, next year i'm staying home." he agressively whispered, finally inaudible for the rest to hear.

but he knew he couldn't stay safely in the car forever. eventually, he had to get out by himself, if he didn't want to be dragged out by his overly excited mother. on one side wonwoo understood her excitement, that one time of the year where they could spend time with everyone had to be special to both her and her husband.

but on the other hand, wonwoo knew exactly whenever his parents actually had work, or took travels with just the two of them in their free time, knowing they didn't have to babysit their kids anymore with wonwoo almost being an adult and somi living with their grandparents. even if his parents didn't notice, wonwoo was smart enough to go through the papers they left behind when they weren't at home.

they had enough time to spent together, if they actually wanted to. that being also the main reason why wonwoo hated vacations, or spending time with his parents in general. it all felt like one big act being put up right in front of his nose.

a knock on the window next to him was what shook him awake from his daydream. somi stood on the other side with a smile too wide for her own face, pressing her nose against the glass, which would most definitely leave a stain later.

wonwoo opened the door a little, being careful since it was still just a four year old toddler. he sighed in utter annoyance when she refused to take her nose of the glass.

"what do you want from me?" he grumbled, which managed to make the little girl smile even more, to wonwoo's confusion.

"we share a room!" she happily chirped, finally releasing her nose from the window and clinging herself onto wonwoo's legs that he stuck out of the car.

wonwoo, on the other hand, felt even worse than before, now it got confirmed the houses were indeed too small to have some privacy, or at least a room to share with no one else than his feelings and a good book.

"whatever, just let go of me." he said, gently caressing her hair so she would get off him. which she instantly did, running back to the house to share her excitement with her parents.

this is going to be one hell of a vacation..
