a loud ringing tone reached mingyu's ear on the outer side of the door, where the tall boy was waiting on wonwoo's doorstep. anxiously, he wiggled front and back on his feet, doubting whether he preferred someone to open the door or to leave him standing outside. although both options seemed to worsen his current state.
until the twisting of a key in the lock was heard, snapping mingyu back to reality. the small bouquet of roses was slowly falling apart, as mingyu and his clumsiness tripped when he stepped out of his car and had flattened the flowers along the way. how cheesy the sight might've seemed, mingyu was convinced he had to do at least something to win back his past lover.
however, the moment the front door opened he felt his courage sink all the way down his body. fuck. both hansol and jeonghan stood in the doorway as if they had been expecting mingyu's appearance. the partly american boy snorted, receiving a flick against the side of his head by the blonde haired male.
"oh please, have you even seen how ridiculous you look yourself man?" hansol couldn't stop laughing because of the stupidly cheesy image right in front of him. "roses? you're really desperate aren't you? please don't tell me you've sprayed that one specific cologne as well.."
hansol started laughing even louder when he leaned forward and the familiar scent entered his nostrils, making mingyu look down in embarrassment. if it wasn't for wonwoo, he would've straight up returned to his car. after having a pretty serious outburst of course, as mingyu wasn't one to leave his business without showing some anger.
"can we please just get over this? i'm here for wonwoo." mingyu tried not to let the nickname slip, respectfully waiting for allowance to enter the house.
"hansol, i know you hate him so let me handle this." jeonghan forcefully pushed hansol back inside as his laughter slowly died down. a pang inside mingyu's heart was heard on the word 'hate', not expecting his friends to turn against him this soon. though he understood their opinion all too well. "if you give me a good reason to see wonwoo i'll let you inside."
"i heard he forgot about seokmin. so i hope i can refresh his memories by showing my face before they will be vanished for good." mingyu decided to leave the part where he missed wonwoo more than anything unspoken. or where he wished to give them another chance. if he would even be able to help wonwoo remember the black spaces in his brain.
"just for seokmin?" jeonghan repeated, wanting to make sure letting the tall boy in would be a good decision. though he doubted anyone else would bring back wonwoo's memories. this time, how much everyone hated it, it really depended on mingyu.
mingyu gave a confirmative nod, trying to restrain a smile when jeonghan stepped aside and allowed him inside. "but on one condition! if you do anything to wonwoo, we're kicking you out. we use violence when needed."
"no need to treat me like an inmate." mingyu whispered as he quickly stepped inside, trying to avoid jeonghan's judging glare behind him.
he rushed towards the living room as he still remembered the house perfectly fine. nothing had changed in the short amount of time he'd been gone, and he had to admit, he even missed the familiar furniture. the only thing that differed from the usual was the fact that the living room was now filled with his formal friends, instead of the normally empty space he only shared with wonwoo.
"wonwoo! you got a visitor!" hansol sarcastically yelled in the kitchen's direction, making mingyu assume that the called out boy was there.
"hansol stop being so mean." junhui lightly slapped his upper arm, though mingyu noticed the chinese boy throwing a hatred glare in his direction as well. just like all the other company that occupied the room.
a painful silence fell over the group of teens, while mingyu awkwardly remained in his spot in the entrance of the living room. even jeonghan had walked past him and taken a seat next to his boyfriend, staring mingyu up and down with the same spiteful eyes as the others.
"a visitor? oh come on, there's already so much company in my house." the familiar deep voice of wonwoo reached mingyu's ear, making mingyu's head peer up in the same direction and forget about his surroundings momentarily.
and once wonwoo in all his glory stepped inside, the nostalgic homelike feeling returned, making mingyu's regret of breaking up with him in the first place rise up again.
the curly-head's eyes widened upon seeing mingyu, giving everyone hope that his memories might've returned. yet this wasn't the case as the boy carefully stepped closer, his insecurities and anxiousness of talking to new people suddenly rising again.
"uh.. hi?" he spoke to the taller boy, whose face looked so strangely familiar..
his golden beautifully combed hair, his greek god-like posture, his puppy like yet manly face structures. it was as if they had met before, in a place where wonwoo couldn't put his finger on.
"hey.." mingyu swore he could burst into tears right there, but restrained himself when he remembered he had to act as naturally as possible to not scare wonwoo right away. of course he remembered his trouble with talking when they first met, and the last thing he wanted was to let wonwoo slip again. "..i bought you these."
mingyu offered the the roses to the confused boy, who accepted them with the same tender hands he once touched mingyu with. oh if he could just embrace him in his arms and brush through his curly hair. if he could just come closer, so he would be able to take in his scent of safety.
but the only thing he could do for now was to keep his distance, and stare at what could be his.
"my name is mingyu by the way, i think we've met before." it hurted him in so many ways to speak those words of introduction all over again. as if the memories they made together had lost their purpose and faded into nothingness.
still no sign of recognition was visible on wonwoo's face, as he returned a small smile sheepishly. "mingyu. hi. i'm wonwoo." of course. mingyu thought to himself. his usual short replies.
"so.. you forgot about me didn't you?" mingyu let the words slip, regretting it on an instant once wonwoo's eyes widened with a trace of fear mixed with uncertainty.
"i forgot about.. what?" wonwoo stepped back, scared of what this mingyu could be capable of. "oh god no, please don't tell me you imbeciles invited him over just to recall my memories?"
anger? an expression mingyu had never seen on wonwoo before. "so once again you have to confirm that stupid amnesia? can't you just treat me like a normal human being for once? for fucks sake!"
habitually, mingyu reached out for the boy's shoulder in an attempt to calm him down, which only resulted in wonwoo instinctively jerking it back before they made skin to skin contact. "get out of my house!" he yelled, visibly not remembering mingyu at all.
but before mingyu even had the chance to react to that, someone had harshly gripped mingyu by his shoulder and guided him outside. seungcheol. his voice that spoke next gave his identity away.
"you heard him buddy, get out of his house."
