it was a late sunny afternoon, temperatures high up like you would expect from an average summer as a cloudless sky hung high above town. wonwoo, however, sat inside, engulfed in a novel he had been dying to read since weeks.

his parents had left even earlier than expected, wonwoo finding out through a note that stuck onto the refrigerator, together with a reasonable amount of money deposited on his bank account so he could get through the next two weeks by himself. the only thing he was responsible for himself were cleaning the house and getting groceries, the money that was left over was for him to keep.

about thirty minutes ago he received a message from mingyu, asking if he could still crash at his place, which wonwoo obviously accepted. just the thought about mingyu's warmth and scent made him eager for those arms wrapped around his body again, just to be held throughout the entire night.

the book addict just completed another chapter when he heard the doorbell ring, announcing mingyu's arrival. wonwoo carelessly threw his book to the other side of the living room's couch, getting up faster than lighting as he sped towards the front door, throwing a glance in the mirror that hung in the hallway.

he wasn't wearing more than a plain white t-shirt he bought two sizes too big and a pair of grey knee-height shorts, his hair messy and his round specs midway up his nose bridge. perhaps not an outfit to impress one with, you might assume, but to wonwoo it was some sort of sign that he started getting comfortable around mingyu. and the obnoxious hot temperatures played a big part too of course.

he hurriedly unlocked the front door as mingyu appeared in the doorframe, his lips curling up in his signature canine smile. "hey wonwon." he greeted with a delighted sigh, hiking his backpack with (what wonwoo assumed) sleepwear a little higher up his back before wonwoo stepped aside.

"hey." wonwoo still found it hard to comprehend how flawless mingyu looked without even paying effort, leaving him speechless every time again. this time, however, he was quick to recover as he flashed a smile in return. "took you long."

"patience is the key, my dear." mingyu chuckled, a sentence that could've been written in a novel wonwoo read, making the curly head's cheeks flush crimson. the tall boy politely took his shoes off and placed them on the rack with all the others, before standing straight and eyeing the visibly flustered wonwoo. "i made a stop at the convenient store on my way here and i still had to gather some things back at home. you don't think i'd sleep over at your house without bringing any snacks, do you?"

"wait, you brought snacks?" wonwoo asked in utter surprise, making him doubt if his cheeks grew redder by his sweet gesture or the fact that their bodies were nearly pressed together in the narrow hallway.

"of course i did! i thought i heard you say you like those sweet potato chips when we were at seungcheol's cafe yesterday. so i bought them! and some chocolate of course, who doesn't love chocolate?" without hesitation, wonwoo suddenly slipped his hands underneath mingyu's arms, carefully pressing himself against mingyu's body, who took the opportunity to pull the raven boy closer.

wonwoo touched him with so much care, as if mingyu could shatter underneath his fingertips any moment. the hug was just tender, yet mingyu couldn't help but to feel so damn in love. he'd never been held in the way wonwoo did.

"stupid, you shouldn't have done that." wonwoo murmured against the fabric of mingyu's black tank top, that exposed his beautifully toned muscular arms and deep collarbones. "you know i'd do anything just for a hug like this." mingyu couldn't believe how soft wonwoo tend to make him.

as if the whole bad boy image he'd built up in high school just vanished and made place for the better version of him. the anger and sudden rushes of aggression he'd felt for over the past two, nearly three, years was entirely paved away. and here he was, inside wonwoo's arms, feeling like the kim mingyu he used to be.

"you're such a big baby." wonwoo whined, trying to pull away from the hug, which failed as mingyu wasn't planning on breaking apart just yet.

"at least i'm your baby." mingyu flirtatiously said, pressing a gentle kiss against wonwoo's temple. the flustered boy wondered how someone could flirt with so much confidence, while he just ended up being one big speechless mess.

"who said you are? last time i checked i was still single." wonwoo replied like his usual cold self, not being able to express any other emotion with the nerves that raced through his body.

"then how about we change something about that?" mingyu moved a few inches back so he was able to take a look at the expression on wonwoo's face, making sure the said boy was feeling comfortable enough with the topic. and to his surprise, he noticed a small trace of a shy smile together with burning pink cheeks.

"i-uh.. i'm actually kinda serious right now." mingyu scratched his nape as he let out a nervous chuckle, enough to make wonwoo realize that no matter how flawless he seemed, he was still human. "and if it's too soon please tell me, i really want to do everything at your own pace."

"you can be so weird sometimes." wonwoo blurted out, followed up by a broad smile mingyu had barely ever seen before. one where his entire upper and lower rows of canines were visible and his nose scrunched up. "but i don't see why we shouldn't be.. you know.. a thing?"

"a thing?" mingyu repeated his words as he reflected the same expression. "so you're saying you want to be my boyfriend?" and the nod that followed was enough confirmation to mingyu, who took it as a yes and pulled wonwoo in an even tighter hug than the one they'd shared before.

"i swear to god, what are you doing to me." mingyu whispered, making wonwoo shrug inside his arms. "i should ask you the same thing."

and both boys forgot that they were still standing in the narrow hallway, too occupied with holding onto each other as if it was their last time, capturing each other in the tightest and most loving hug they'd ever shared.
