"wonwon? what are you doing?"

wonwoo eyed his little sister who accidentally mispronounced his name, sitting behind him on her bed and staring intensively at what her big brother was doing.

"i'm going out tonight." wonwoo answered, emptying the insides of his travel bag in the wardrobe he had to share with his sister so he could pick an outfit to wear. he didn't know exactly if it was to impress mingyu, maybe his friends, or because he had no idea what to expect from the party on the beach.

dressing up a little couldn't harm, right?

"can i come?" somi asked, being too young to understand it wasn't meant for toddlers like her. the amount of alcohol there that would be present would scare her and if wonwoo had to believe mingyu's words it would be quite crowded too.

however, wonwoo still had a hard time picturing what a party at the beach would look like as he never attended a party with more than five people before.

"you're too young for that. once you're older i'll bring you with me." wonwoo answered, grabbing a pair of denim blue skinny jeans together with a plain black t-shirt. that would do it, right? or so, he hoped.

"when will that be?" she whined as wonwoo started changing into his new fit of clothes, hiding behind the door of the wardrobe as it was his only option of privacy.

"the day you turn sixteen i will personally take you out to a club!" wonwoo answered, knowing their parents would be too occupied with their work to care. even after twelve years, when wonwoo would turn thirty, he would remind himself of the promise he made that day, to take his little sister to a club to experience a party for the first time.

even when he wasn't the biggest fan of clubs after what happened the last time he went with his friends.. (chapter 63-68 of separate | jeongcheol)

"that's long." she whined again. wonwoo peeked his head around the wardrobe door to see she had laid down, tightly clinging onto a teddy bear that was nearly the same size as she was herself.

he wore the t-shirt and zipped up the zipper of his jeans, closing the door and walking over to her bed, sitting down next to her.

"just be patient, i bet you don't even want to go with me when you reach that age." wonwoo said, lightly patting her head.

"why?" she asked, her face peering up to look at her big brother, not quite understanding his choice of words.

wonwoo knew that when she reached that age, she would probably have a group of friends to go clubbing with. she would reach the age to get embarrassed to be seen with her own family, including her big brother.

wonwoo was convinced that somi, being the social butterfly she is, would grow up with more ease than he ever experienced. back when he was four, wonwoo used to be scared of kids around him. he didn't like physical contact nor talking to someone. until the age of ten he had been all alone, hiding away behind books and refusing to play with the others.

somi was the exact opposite and made friends easily. but she wouldn't understand that, even when wonwoo explained it to her. he would remind himself to tell her about it when she would be older and understand the maturity and matter of the important things in life.

for now, he had to keep it with bedtime stories and small talk.

"i'll explain that when you grow up little girl." wonwoo ruffled through her hair, making the excitement in her eyes rise up as he was being nicer to her then usual, "but i have to go, else i might be late for the party."

he reached for his phone on the nightstand, seeing it was already nearing nine pm, meaning the party had started about an hour ago and it was time for somi to sleep. "you should sleep now somi."

"i don't want to." she objected, hiding her tired eyes behind the teddy bear she clung onto.

"if you go to sleep now i'm taking you to the beach tomorrow." wonwoo said, reminding himself of the promise he made with the little boy named euki he had met earlier that day.

"okay then.." she sighed as she crawled underneath the duvets, mockingly throwing a glance at wonwoo who laughed about her behavior.

"sleep well. i'm sending mom and dad for a goodnight kiss." wonwoo walked to the door, pushing his phone in his back pocket as he threw one last glance at his little sister before turning away.

"where are we going this late, young man?"

wonwoo turned his attention to his dad, who sat next to his mother on the couch, watching a movie he was unfamiliar with. he didn't seem mad, nor strict, just curious about why his son took the effort to dress up and go out at this time, not being used to him going anywhere else than his room. and this was already the second time that day.

"i got invited for a party at the beach." wonwoo answered shortly, showing barely any emotion.

"you mean one of those famous outdoor beach parties? with a dj and all?" his father asked, in which wonwoo nodded. even when he was unfamiliar with what exact scenario awaited him, this was the same explanation mingyu had given him earlier, so he assumed it had to be something like that. "i went to a lot of them when i was your age! ah, those good old days.."

wonwoo still didn't quite get whose genes he inherited as both of his parents were quite outgoing and extrovert people in their youth, making wonwoo the only one in the family to lock himself up in his room to do everything by himself.

"with who are you going?" wonwoo's mother asked, happy for her son to finally go to a party on his own intention.

"apparently someone i go to school with is staying in this area. he and his friends invited me." wonwoo explained in all honesty.

"i see, well have fun! you shouldn't waste any more time with your boring parents! go go!" both his parents motioned for him to get out and enjoy his night. while wonwoo just simply shrugged as he turned around, "stay there as long as you want! me and your father love to see you having fun!"

with a heavy sigh, wonwoo walked out of the front door, absolutely not ready for his night out.
