"mingyu is that you?"
the apartment door closed with a loud thud, as mingyu's body was still filled with raging anger. without answering his brother, he untied his all stars and kicked them off. he dropped his bag with belongings he picked up at wonwoo's place about five minutes ago and walked straight to the refrigerator.
he ignored the volume of the television lowering and both his brother and his boyfriend repeating his name, reaching for a beer to at least numb his grieve a little. the substance inside the beer can fizzed when he opened the tab, instantly bringing it to his lips to chug down most of the drink, leaving a burning sensation in his throat.
"mingyu! what the fuck?" namjoon called out yet again, getting up from the couch and hurrying to his brother when he didn't get any reply. it worried him to see his little brother acting like this, not even to start about the fact he wasn't at wonwoo's house right now. "what's wrong?" the elder asked, leaning on the counter.
"leave me alone." mingyu huffed, shoving his brother aside as he rushed over to his own room, ignoring him calling out his name repeatedly. just when namjoon was about to enter his bedroom too, mingyu shut the door as a sign he didn't wanted to be disturbed. not now.
not now he just broke up with wonwoo.
"fuck.." he whispered as he walked over to the window, sitting down on the concrete windowsill as he stared up at the dark sky. even though most of his view got blocked by the building that was separated from theirs by a narrow alleyway, if he leaned close enough against the window he was able to stare up at the night sky.
clouds filled with monsoon rain towered over the city, ready to drop pools of water down on the surface, giving an even gloomier atmosphere to the already painful evening. and as he looked up at the faint stars, mingyu felt a stray tears rolling down his cheek. to finally give his aggressive behavior a rest, he let it be.
until the obnoxiously loud ringing of his phone mixed in with the silence and muffled voices coming from the living room. with a heavy sigh mingyu checked the name that popped up on his screen, not wanting to pick up. though he knew, that he would cause a lot more trouble if he didn't answer right away.
"hansol? what's up?" mingyu asked monotone, not in the mood to get back to his happy self he'd been for over a few weeks. it had only been because of wonwoo's company, which he fucked up himself less than an hour ago.
"you know damn well what's up." he heard hansol huffing over the phone, making mingyu realize he messed up real big this time. "why the fuck did you do that? is it really that hard to not use your aggression for once in your life? if you really treasured wonwoo like how you said you did you wouldn't have done such stupid thing!"
mingyu could only sigh in exhaustion, letting hansol scold him like he deserved. "there was no other way." he decided to speak once hansol was done nagging about the mistakes he'd made.
"are you fucking kidding me man?" hansol spoke up again. "so you just decided to leave like that without giving wonwoo a proper explanation? if you just told him what it was about you wouldn't have created this? do you even know in what state wonwoo is right now?"
"hansol just stop. i did what had to be done. he would've found out eventually." mingyu spoke through gritted teeth, feeling his level of aggression rise up to its maximum once again. he clenched his fist in an attempt to remain calm, feeling his nails dig into his skin. even when he felt a warm substance dripping through his fingers, he didn't let go .
"you're fucking insane." hansol expressed his anger once again with cussing, wishing for it to get through mingyu. "i really can't believe you. you know what, i'm not even gonna take the effort to explain this whole messed up situation to wonwoo. he deserves to hear it from you."
"as if i'm actually telling him? i just broke his heart!" mingyu rose up his volume, trying to stay as calm as possible, ignoring the stinging pain inside his chest when he started realizing what he'd done.
and for a brief second the only thing he heard on the other side of the phone was hansol's breathing mixed with a painful silence. the pause didn't take long as hansol was quick to speak up again. "fuck you man." he breathed out. "don't count on me anymore. me, junhui and chan are going to be there for wonwoo. asshole."
and before mingyu could speak up again, repetitive beeps were heard on the other side of the line, meaning hansol had hung up the phone. with a void expression mingyu looked down at his hand, releasing the grip so see the damage his nails had caused. small rivers of blood streamed down and dripped on the uncleaned wooden floor, leaving stains, though the wounds weren't deep enough to be bleeding for more than five minutes.
and even if they were, mingyu couldn't care. or at least he couldn't bring up to care.
to release at least some of his agression, he threw his phone on his bed, careless if he had broken anything. in one go he chugged down his beer, ignoring the sting in his throat while the burning substance slid down. he crumbled the can inside his hands and threw it against the closest concrete wall he saw with a throaty groan, the sound of metal against stone echoing in his small unlit room.
and with a heavy sigh he dropped himself on his bed, wishing for the night to take away his sorrows for once. just one restless night would be enough to him. just one.
