Laxus rolled over, quietly groaning.
For some reason, he just couldn't seem to stay asleep for long tonight. No matter how hard he tried, he just ended up waking up a couple hours later. Deciding to go downstairs and get a glass of water, sat up and quietly left his room, making sure not to wake up the slumbering Bickslow and Freed. He looked down the stairs, noticing that the there was some faint lights coming from downstairs.
He quietly walked down the stairs and through the hallway, into the living room. To his surprise, Galatea was lying on the couch, reading a book. She looked up when he walked in.
"Can't sleep?" Galatea asked, putting a bookmark in the book before closing it.
Laxus nodded.
"Yeah, I heard you moving around a lot." Galatea said.
The male dragonslayer nodded, before disappearing into the kitchen to get a glass of water before returning. As he walked over, Galatea pulled her legs up to her chest, allowing Laxus to sit on the other end of the couch.
The two sat in silence for a few moments. It was the first time the two had really been alone together, as normally one of their other friends were around. Galatea closed her eyes, focusing on the sound of the breeze blowing outside.
"If you're here to pry into my love life like Bickslow and Ever, I'll kill you." Galatea quietly said, not worrying about Laxus being unable to hear her.
Laxus chuckled.
"I have no need to pry into that." Laxus said, "That's very much a them thing."
Galatea hummed.
"It's weird that there's only a month and a half left until the Games." Galatea said, "It feels like yesterday that we almost lost Ever in Oshibana."
Laxus nodded.
"Time flies like that." Laxus said, "I suppose you had fun then?"
"I did. And you?"
"I had fun, this was nice."
A silence fell over them again.
"What are you going to do after the Games?" Galatea asked.
Laxus shrugged.
"I don't know. Maybe take on some more adventurous jobs should they come our way." Laxus said, "I'm pretty content with just spending time with people I haven't seen in a long time."
Galatea nodded, "That sounds good."
"Hey, Tea?' Laxus asked.
Galatea looked over at the blonde curiously.
"Yeah?"
"Why don't you have an exceed?" Laxus questioned, "The other dragon slayers that were raised by dragons all have one."
Galatea shrugged.
"I never really wanted one, to be honest." Galatea said, "I'm not really a fan of animal companions. Sure, they're cute and all, but I feel like they'd be a disadvantage to me in a fight."
"Makes sense. Happy's been kidnapped a few times to rile up Natsu. Then again, it doesn't take much to rile him up."
"You're right."
Galatea looked at the blond with slight curiosity in her eyes. She wouldn't lie, Laxus was attractive. Something about the dim lighting hitting his tired face made her look at him differently for the first time. There was something about him that made her insides squirm ever-so-slightly.
