Galatea was on edge.

After the strange words from Serpent Head's Guild Master, it left her with unsettling feeling. They quickly returned to Crocus, got the large reward from Princess Hisui and rushed back to Magnolia.

"Welcome back, how was the job?" Makarov asked, upon spotting the Thunder Legion enter the Guild.

"Good." Galatea breathed out, answering. "Master, can we speak with you in your office? It's urgent."

A few heads turned and Makarov's expression got more stoic. Nodding, he gestured the group up to the second floor. Without disruption, they quickly made their way to Makarov's office. Once inside, they found seats quick easily.

"So, what is it?" Makarov asked, looking at the wizards. "What happened?"

Freed and Galatea were quick to fill Makarov in on what happened on the job, from the sheer size of Serpent Head, the huge reward, the Guild Master and his son, and Guild Master's suicide and strange words. Makarov listened intently, before rubbing his temples.

"Geez, it seems like things are really gearing up. With the Sun Village and now this?" Makarov questioned. "Just what is coming?"

"Sun Village?" Laxus questioned.

"Team Natsu took on a job to thaw the Sun Village which had been covered with unmeetable ice. They encountered one of Tartaros's Dark Guilds there, and surprisingly Minerva from Sabertooth was a member."

Galatea froze slightly, which was only noticed by Laxus. She brushed it off quickly, speaking up.

"Serpent Head was also a guild under Tartaros." Galatea confirmed. "Perhaps Tartaros is preparing to make a big move?"

"That could be likely." Makarov said. "For now, I want you kids to keep your eyes and ears open. You don't know what's coming or what Tartaros could be planning, so we need to be extra careful. If you can, don't take jobs alone."

"Thank you Master."

Galatea headed home afterwords, pondering over the day's events as she ate leftovers for dinner. Frustrated with the lack of information, she packed up her food and headed off to her room, stripping out of her short dress from the desert and putting on leggings and a long shirt.

Pacing back and forth in room, Galatea stopped as a thought crossed her mind. Grinning, she grabbed a familiar necklace from her vanity and tapped it twice.

Sitting on her bed, she waited anxiously as her communication lacrima necklace rang, awaiting for someone to pick up. Eventually, a person did and a cheery voice echoed through Galatea's bedroom.

"Tea?"

"Meredy! Good to hear from you." Galatea said, "How are you guys?"

"We're doing alright. There a reason you called?"

Galatea sighed, knowing that there was much to talk about that would work better in person.

"There's something that caught my attention, and I needed to talk to you guys about it. Where are you guys at the moment?" Galatea asked.

"Outside of Hargeon." Meredy said, "We just finished taking down a Dark Guild."

"Listen, would you guys mind swinging by my house as soon as you can? I have a feeling that this might be the calm before the storm." Galatea said, her voice suddenly getting more and more serious.

Meredy was clearly surprised by Galatea's tone. Galatea heard a little bit of whispering in the background before Meredy spoke up.

"Yeah, were on our way. We should be there by tonight or early morning tomorrow." Meredy answered, "See you soon. Meet at the normal spot?"

"Yup." Galatea said as Meredy ended the call.

Some of her tensions were relieved, but an unsettling nerve still settled over the dragonslayer. Humming slightly, she fiddled with the ends of her dress. Trying not to worry herself, she exited her room and entered her dimly-lit study, pulling out a thick book in an ancient script before heading back into the main room and relaxing on the couch.

She just needed to wait a little longer.

The first thing Galatea noticed when Crime Sorciere entered her house that a member was missing. She had been suspicious when Ultear hadn't answered the call, seeing as the ravenette normally was the one to call or answer. That, and the unfamiliar sad look in Meredy's eyes spoke volumes. She just had to get confirmation.

Meredy instantly saw the look of recognition on Galatea's face, looking at the floor.

"She's gone, right?" Galatea asked, as she gestured the two to make themselves comfortable.

"Yeah. You know how suddenly you saw a minute into the future during the Dragon attack?" Meredy said, pulling of her cloak and settling into an armchair.

"Yeah."

"Ultear used a spell called Lost Ages. Are you familiar with it?" Jellal asked.

"Yes." Galatea said, busying herself in the kitchen. "Well, I hope she's resting in peace now."

Meredy nodded, "So what was it that you wanted to talk to us about?"

Galatea stayed silent for a moment, before speaking up.

"To go back a little bit, I recently got a job request for Princess Hisui." Galatea said, shocking them slightly. "It was to take care of a Dark Guild that was causing trouble on the Bosco-Fiore border. Their name is Serpent Head, if you are familiar."

Meredy nodded. "Under Tartaros, correct?"

"Yeah." Galatea said as she walked back into the living room with a tea-tray in her arms. "The job was easy, but something that the Guild Master said before he ended his life is troubling me."

"What is it?" Jellal said, as he took the cup of tea Galatea offered him.

"The child of the demon will decide the fate of magic." Galatea said, repeating what the Guild Master said. "I have no idea what that means."

"None of that sounds good to me." Jellal said, "This smells like Tartaros to me."

"Yeah." Meredy said, setting her cup of tea down. "Not to mention, they are the only point of the Baram Alliance left."

"There is the rumour that Tartaros aren't human, but other than that I have no idea what is going on. For all we know, Tartaros could be trying to wipe out all of Fiore." Galatea said, "We really are going into this blind."

"No kidding." Jellal said.

"By the way, what are you two planning on next?" Galatea said, taking a long sip of her teeth.

"We're planning on tracking down the remaining Guilds who used to be under Grimoire Heart." Meredy said, "There's still some lingering around that we need to take care of before we start tackling the Oracion Seis Guilds."

"I see." Galatea said. "It's getting late. Do you guys wanna crash for the night before you get a move on?"

"Sure. It is late after all." Jellal shrugged.

"Can I use your shower again?" Meredy asked.

Galatea grinned at her friends.

"Of course. You guys smell."
