A/N - this is a request where Tommy gets radiation poisoning, although I tweaked it a little bit. This is technically Sam Nook, but he actually speaks and I just call him Sam.

A few people have asked about an AO3 fic I talked about which was where I got the idea for 'A Father's Instincts', and I left the links in the bottom A/N to check them out if you're interested. I thought I had responded to the comments asking about that but it looks like my replies never sent because Wattpad is weird, so sorry for that!

Edit: Wattpad has decided to make it impossible for me to comment links for some reason, so the links are at the bottom of this chapter as well as on my conversations page, but they aren't commented. Sorry about that.

TW: Bombs, blood

"I got the stuff!" Sam heard Tommy's voice shout in the distance. He turned away from his work to see Tommy bouncing toward him with his arms full of various supplies for the hotel.

"TOMMY! Thank god you're okay!" Sam exclaimed, pulling the boy into a tight hug.

"Why wouldn't I be?" Tommy asked, his voice muffled by Sam's shirt.

"Uh, because of the bombs that went off seconds ago?! I'm pretty sure they were Tubbo's nukes. Were you close by?"

"Oooh, that! Yeah, I was close by, but I'm fine."

Sam let go of Tommy with a relieved sigh, only for the blond to stumble from side to side before collapsing on his knees. The materials he was holding clattered everywhere and his arms fell to his side, limp. His head was hung so low that his chin touched his chest, and Sam wasted no time in getting to the ground with him, gently grasping his shoulders as he coaxed the boy's head back up.

His face was pale and his eyes were wandering, unable to focus. They eventually found their way to Sam's face, and he saw how dazed the boy was.

"Must be my low blood sugar," He chuckled. "I'll have to drink some water. I should be fine, though."

Tommy's reassurances didn't do much to quell Sam's worries, and they only got worse when blood started dripping from his nose.

"I'm pretty sure that's not low blood sugar, Tommy," Sam said, his voice shaking. He gently wiped the blood away with a cloth, only for more to start spilling out faster and faster. Suddenly, Tommy shoved Sam's hand away and leaned over in a coughing fit. Sam saw blood spilling on the wood below from the coughing, and his heart dropped even further to his stomach.

He didn't have any potions to help and he didn't want to risk leaving the boy alone, so all he could do was rub Tommy's back as he watched him suffer. It was like watching his son dying before his eyes, and he soon found himself sobbing while holding a weak, coughing Tommy in his lap, slowly swaying them back and forth.

In another location, Techno and Phil were making their way to the hotel, unaware of what was going on. "I wonder who owns the hotel," Phil mused. Techno snorted. "Come on Phil, you've been asking that question for four days. We'll get the answer when we get there. I just hope it's actually a hotel and no one sent us the anonymous invite to lure us into a trap."

"I thought the same thing, but I've heard people talking about the hotel and how nice it's coming along. I've tried to figure out who owns it, but all I can gather is that Sam Nook is helping whoever it is to build it."

The two continued talking, their conversation staying on the topic of the hotel. They started trying to eliminate people it couldn't be and had crossed off six people when Techno's eyes widened. "What if it's Tommy?"
