A/N: hey there! i saw a poetry book someone had created where they wrote a cohesive story based on different songs that they were listening too as they wrote each part. i thought that concept was pretty cool. i definitely want to try writing more poetry inspired by song pieces.

—————————————————————

icy winter encases
your lovely frame,
teeth chattering into the earbud mic,
running your gloved hands through
your snow-strewn hair.

my eyes focus on the screen
until the white powder hazes my vision

i extend my arm,
my reach passing the boundaries
of the glass phone screen.

grasping your wrist,
i yank as hard as i can.
you stumble through
and land on top of me,
my body acting as your cushion.

my vision clears itself,
and shocking warmth encircles us.

you push yourself up,
staring down at me,
before lowering yourself
and pressing
those grinning lips to mine.

sand tangles itself
into my long locks.
i run some through your hair
to replace the snow that had melted
on the way over.

i sit up, you still residing
happily in my lap.
the soft crashing of the waves
and the heartiness of your laughter
fill my heart with song.

"floral isn't a bad pattern on you,"
i shoot out, staring down at
the thin, loudly-patterned shirt
that replaced your layered coats.

you stand and help me up.
i take your hands and pull you in,
maneuvering your body
into a casual dance frame.

the heavy scent of salty ocean.
the palm trees swaying
along to the soft ukulele,
keeping in time with our rhythms.

your palm finds its way
onto my cheek
and rests there gently.

escape with me again, darling.
