A/N: today was... interesting.

red-handed.
hear the alarms closing in,
condemning acts,
disclosure unneeded.

technically, we already
must lay low to avoid
legal confrontation.

let off with a ticket,
a mental scarring,
a lesson to learn for us both.

we drove on,
shaken up,
yet not deterred from the path.

is it the passionate,
ambitious,
driver's fault?

or the passenger for noticing the kinks,
yet urging the driver to continue
as if nothing was off?

maybe it's the car's fault.
maybe they should have taken the bus.

the damage is done,
the ticket is paid.

we could have used that money,
it is gone now.
we could have used carefree loving,
it is gone now.

it is a good thing
we encountered the cop
that knows the annoyance of high trouble
and eats doughnuts on his break.

"i wish i could re-do today."
but i disagree.

i would not change a thing.
we sang our hearts out,
jamming to each played-out song
booming from the new stereo.

we learned a hard lesson today,
although it led to a dip in energy
for us both.

it assured me
that i'd ignore laws
for the likes of you.

i look at the road ahead of us
and i see us riding through it all,
you in the driver's seat,
and me, a riding passenger.

we'll get to the destination,
no matter how many detours
we are forced upon.
