A/N: i took headshots for my on stage class today. they looked fantastic. i don't know how she did that. i didn't know i could look that good.

"tilt a little to the side."
"square your shoulders."
"relax those lips of yours."

i followed.
relaxing my lips,
my smile felt wavering
between genuine and forced.

hair twisted and pulled
all to get a perfect shot.

"gorgeous girl."
"oh yes, that's so pretty!"
"your teeth are so white."

if only you knew
the impact your words would have.

"come here,
we've got some really lovely shots.
you are so photogenic!"

what?

brain bewildered,
i go over to look
at the camera's small screen.

my god.
i did not know
my natural beauty could shine
so vibrantly in the sun.

it was like saw myself
for the first time.

i can only hope that i am perceived
as beautifully as shown in those captures.
