"Happy Birthday!" Dream exclaimed when he showed up at Techno's apartment.
"Thanks! Come on in!" Techno smiled.
They made their way to the couch, where Dream got out a brightly wrapped present and put it on the coffee table. "Go ahead and open it." He said, beaming with anticipation.
In response, Techno started to unwrap it, finding a box with a custom, oddly high quality, novelty Minecraft lamp. "What the heck." He laughed. "This is so weird."
"I know right, I saw it and I just had to get it for you, even if it was a little pricy."
"Hah, worth it." Techno laughed. "Thanks!" Dream smiled, glad that his gift made him laugh.
The next week, Techno took him to dinner to a nice sit down restaurant with great reviews. "This is a nice place you picked out, any special occasion?"
"Not really, just felt like it." Techno shrugged.
"So this isn't to appease me early so I won't get mad at you?" He teased.
"Nah." Chuckled Techno as the waitress gave them the check.
"Actually, we'll split it." Dream corrected her.
"No, it's fine, I'll pay." Techno responded, dismissing the waitress.
"Are you sure you don't have some dark secret." Dream joked, despite the kind gesture.
"Can't I just be nice to you? I'm the one who wanted to come here anyway."
"Alright, I won't look a gift horse in the mouth. How much is it anyway?" Glancing over, it was almost two hundred with the appetizers and tip. "Wow, that's even more than that stupid overpriced lamp." He giggled.
"Oh really." Techno hummed, slightly aloof. When Dream looked up, he was smirking to himself. So that's what this was about, well two could play at that game.
A few days later, they were hanging out at Dream's place. "Hey, are you free next Saturday?" Dream asked.
"Yeah."
"Perfect."
Techno paused for a second to glance at him. "I'm assuming this is a date, are you going to tell me what we're doing?"
"One second." He responded, concentrated on what he was clicking on his phone. "Alright, done. We'll be going skiing, just booked everything!"
"Skiing you say." Techno hummed. "Fancier than our usual Netflix dates."
"You were right with that restaurant, nothing wrong with doing fun, fancy things from time to time." Dream was smug, it was written all over his face, and Techno took it as a challenge.
"Oh by the way," Techno said the week after their ski trip. "I noticed your coffee machine is getting old so I got you a new one."
"Wow, a coffee machine?" Dream feigned excitement.
"Yeah, I don't know too much about features, so I just got whatever looked nice. I figured since I'm over here so much anyway, why not." Techno was not a huge coffee drinker, both of them knew that.
Later, they were at Techno's place when the doorbell rang. "I'll get it." Dream said, standing up despite it not being his apartment. Soon, he came back bringing a package.
"I didn't order anything." He commented.
"I know, I did." He opened up the box to reveal two cozy sweaters. "They're from a good brand, but I liked the design too much, so I got us a pair."
"And you had them sent here." Techno asked, an amused look on his face.
"I'm over here so much I just figured." He played innocent as Techno smirked.
A week went by until Techno retaliated. "So I was thinking that we could go to New York to see something on Broadway. I've always wanted to, so why not now."
"You didn't even ask if I'm busy."
"I know you aren't."
Dream rolled his eyes. "Have you already paid for it?"
"Yup, the plane ride there and back plus the show tickets. It's the day after tomorrow, so you might want to start packing."
"Haha, okay, we're going to New York." Dream laughed, already having an idea in mind.
The week after their New York adventure, Dream arrived at Techno's apartment like usual. When he came to the door, Techno immediately noticed the large box trying to hide behind Dream's back. "Come in." He said, pretending to be oblivious.
Dream immediately set it in his lap, it had colorful but generic wrapping paper. "Go ahead."
"And you got me this because..."
"No reason, just open it." Dream looked way too inocuous, there was clearly a prideful smirk hidden behind his eyes.
Techno opened it and saw a top quality laptop that emphasized high performance. "You got me a new laptop? Seriously?" He asked, stunned but appreciative.
"Yup, your old one sucks, and it's not like I can't afford it." There was the subtle flex, but Techno didn't care.
"Wow, I can't thank you enough for this, you're awesome." Techno leaned forward and planted a happy kiss onto Dream's cheek.
"You're so genuine, it's hard to keep up this competitive persona." Dream laughed, cracking under the pressure and blushing at the kiss.
"Sorry, hard to be aloof when this is everything I've always wanted."
Dream laughed. "Don't tell me you started this flexing war so I would buy you a nice laptop. Are we going to stop now that you have what you want?" Any malice turned to teasing, along with a playful nudge.
"Of course not, I haven't even broke into the Minecraft Monday money yet!"
"Oh really, well good thing I'm getting steady income from having double the number of subs you do."
"Eh, you don't stream enough, that's where the gold mine is at."
Dream burst out a wheeze. "Neither do you!
They laughed on the couch for a while, absorbing the domestic intimacy and enjoying each other's company. "This is really fun though, especially the trips." Dream said, laying on Techno.
"Yeah, the skiing, New York, we should do more vacation based flexing." Techno replied. They giggled more, happy for the memories they gained.
