Dream walked unmasked through the streets of the town, his feet crunching on pebbles and a warm breeze ruffling his hair. He was on a journey, but he had time to listen to gossip.

"The reports came back from the battlefield, it was a sweeping victory."

"Weren't they losing last week? And the enemy had their best commander shipped in. What happened?"

"Didn't you hear? The prince got shipped in."

"Ha, that monster, who else could it be. Why do they even call him a prince, he's a reaper of death."

"I'm just glad he's on our side."

Nothing Dream didn't know. This kingdom had been at war for years, until their youngest prince turned eighteen and was sent to the battlefield. Within weeks, the war was won. Ever since, the king had been declaring war on anyone who looked at him funny, and they hadn't lost. This fearsome prince was the reason he came to this kingdom, and he wouldn't leave until he was granted an audience.

Techno never liked the imperial carriage, it was slow and, despite the velvet seats, incredibly uncomfortable. Instead he had his trusty horse, who had been with him since childhood. As the sun set, he reached a town. He tied up his horse, took the satchel with his pig mask, and bought a room at the nearest inn. Breakfast was awful, but he'd had worse. Sitting in one place, he was obligated to listen to the meaningless gossip around him.

"How many do you think he's slain by now, 5?"

"No, it's gotta be way more, I heard he's been doing it since he was twelve."

"Twelve year olds can't kill dragons."

"I wouldn't think think so either, but have you seen this guy? Once, he was sent out to kill one, and he came back in only five days, he's probably the greatest hero of all time."

As Techno returned to his journey, his mind wandered back to the hero the villagers had talked about. Though he only glanced at the letters he got from the palace, the story sounded familiar. Perhaps these rumors weren't as exaggerated as most. As Techno galloped along the road, he wondered what he would do if he met such a man.

He was along a particularly long stretch of road when he met someone. The man had dirty blonde hair and was traveling on foot, a rare sight on long roads such as these. "Just so you know, it'll be hours until you reach the next city." He called out.

The man perked up, revealing a stunning amount of freckles. "Ah, really? I didn't really plan my route. Do you think four hours worth of water will be enough?"

Did this guy think he could walk for four hours straight? "I wouldn't count on it. Wanna hop on for a bit?" The stranger's smile was charming, and as he stopped his horse to let him on, he noticed the man's tough build. He probably could walk for four hours.

Dream's first thought was how high quality this horse was. It was strong and had powerful hooves, the long road barely seemed to phase him. He was much like his owner in that way, seemingly unaffected by the heat or the bumpy terrain, his dusty pink hair hardly moving as they went down the road. Dream wasn't sure if he should start small talk. He wasn't half bad at it, but the stranger in front of him seemed content to ride in silence. He internally shrugged and let the silence fester so he could take in the scenery and enjoy a small break.

They arrived at a small town before the sun set. Dream hopped off the horse, but noticed that the other man didn't seem to. "Wait! Let me thank you for the ride." The man thought about it a bit before stepping off his horse. "I can treat you to dinner?" He offered, knowing perfectly well that a town like this wouldn't have anything good.
