After a few minutes of searching, Techno finally parked his car by the road, only a block from the beach. He retrieved his bag and headed over to a local ice cream shop, where Dream said he was waiting. Walking in, he immediately noticed his boyfriend, who had gone full tourist mode with lime rimmed sunglasses, an unbuttoned, bright Hawaiian shirt over swim trunks, gaudy flip flops, and his towel around his neck and an inner tube around his waist. When Dream saw him, he threw up his hand to wave with his whole arm and smiled like an idiot. Techno couldn't help but chuckle and roll his eyes in fondness as he made his way over.

"Hello."

"Techno! It's been too long!"

"We would've seen each other earlier if you had gotten a hotel closer to my place."

"I just couldn't resist an ocean view."

"You live like five minutes from the ocean."

"But that's the Atlantic, I've never seen the pacific before."

"Whatever, did you want ice cream, or should we go pick a spot."

"No, I only chose this place because it was a landmark. Let's go!"

They held hands as they walked down along the sand, Techno letting himself get led while they searched for a place for their towels. Eventually they found a patch of sand and settled down, dumping their things in a corner and helping each other put on sunscreen. While Techno would've easily been content to soak up the sun for a bit, Dream wanted to splash around in the water, so they headed out until they were waist deep in the salty brine and started a water fight. It got intense, each using the ideal techniques to send as much water their opponent's way as possible. Eventually, Techno got weary after he was forced to take the brunt of an ongoing wave after a series of tactical distractions from Dream.

Having much more energy, Dream continued to splash around and explore the ocean floor while Techno stood a few feet back, feeling the gentle, lifelike tugs of the sea on his bare legs and looking at his boyfriend. Dream was jovial and energetic, jumping around without a care in the world, with countless drops of saltwater peppering his skin. His freckles were right at home under the sun, possibly even a bit more prominent having been sun kissed. Wearing only swimming trunks, the freckles on the rest of Dream's body were visible, allowing Techno to fully appreciate the adorable patches.

When he was done, Dream ran back to Techno's side, showing off the cool things he found beneath the water line. Suddenly, his rambling came to a stop while he looked at something past Techno. "Look, someone set up a volleyball court!" He exclaimed.

Turning his head, Techno also noticed the net surrounded by a small group of young beach goers. "I'm warning you now, I'm a little rusty."

Dream rolled his eyes. "Come on, you can't be that bad."

"How do you even have energy for volleyball?"

"Stop making excuses and let's go crush some losers, you know you want to."

Indeed, Dream was right, and after a dozen 2v2 matches, Techno's hesitations had proved irrelevant as they had systematically destroyed every team that challenged them. It wasn't even close, they were the volleyball kings.

The people they had been playing with weren't bitter about it, but no one wanted to challenge them anymore, so they headed back to their towels. Techno immediately flopped down to sunbathe and rest. While the volleyball matches were easy, they were also exhausting, which Dream must've sympathized with because he too laid down. For a while they soaked up the sun and chatted about life, forgetting any worries they had before.

Eventually Techno got hungry, and knowing he had more energy, sat up. "It's about dinner time, do you want me to get you something?"

Dream sat up too, cracking his stiff back. "No, I'll come along. Any recommendations?"

After packing up their things, they walked down the boardwalk to a surf and turf place Techno enjoyed, never letting their hands lose each other. Dinner was delicious, and Techno loved hearing Dream ramble while they ate. It was something he missed, being able to see the expressiveness of his face as he went on and on. He had found that it was always the little things that he missed the most when they were long distance, which they had been for a while now.

With their bellies full, Dream wanted to go window shopping, just to see what interesting things the boardwalk offered them. There were pinwheels and small toys in one shop, a colorful range of t shirts in another, and one with hundreds of little glass figurines, which they ended up spending a lot of time in. Dream ended up buying one of the tiny pig figurines, despite Techno's complaints about the uselessness or price.

The day dwindled with them slowly walking hand in hand down the beach as the sun sunk along the water. At one spot, they decided to sit down to watch the colors of the sunset.

"You know, we haven't made a sandcastle yet, we should do that!" Exclaimed Dream, already starting to get up.

"Nah." Out of the corner of his eye, Dream shrugged and sat back down. "How can you be so excited all the time, you literally live in a beach town." Techno pondered, any bitterness washed away, looking out at the water.

Dream chuckled. "I wouldn't say I'm excited all the time. And yeah, of course I get to play on the beach whenever I want, but this time you're here, how could I not be ecstatic?"

When Dream looked over at him, Techno hid his reddening face and glanced in the other direction, feeling a bit stupid. Then he felt a warmth rest on him as Dream leaned over, adjusting their positions so he was fit comfortably on his shoulder. Smiling, Techno leaned his head on Dream's, taking the moment to enjoy the comfort of Dream's warmth. They didn't have much time together, so they needed to spent it wisely. And right now, it was wise to cuddle on the beach while watching the sunset, the occasional kiss snuck in before they had to separate.
