Legends sang of a god whose robe was made of cloud, whose throne sat upon rainbows, and whose blessing would grant even the most pathetic with power beyond all reason. A being filled with mysteries, who everyone longed for, and who no one could have. His name matched his domain, Dream.

Legends also speak of a god whose robe wept blood, whose throne sat upon severed heads, and whose wrath would cause even the strongest to cry from pain. A being filled with menace, who everyone feared, and who no one could escape. His name similarly matched his domain, Nightmare.

Humans would tell tales of the two enemies, fighting battle after battle for who would gain control of human sleep. Heroes traveling to their place in heaven would find themselves fought over as each god tried desperately to claim them as their own. However, the servants of the two gods would tell a different story.

"Techno you're back!" Dream shouted as the other god appeared in their living room. "How'd it go?"

Techno plopped on the sofa. "There was a murderer I got to harass, as well as plenty of children, so pretty good." Dream laughed along. "But because of the murderer I had to stay much later, bruh, it was so stressful for people to call me Nightmare for that long."

"Don't worry Techno, I'm here now." Dream soothed. "But you should tell them about your new name already, it'll be fine."

"Eh, but then they'll have to change the payroll and my plaque and people will get confused and call me the wrong thing twenty times a day and judge me and they'll try to tell the humans as well somehow and" Techno went on, getting more and more stressed by the second while Dream sat down next to him and started to gently rub his back.

"Now now calm down. I didn't mean to stress you out."

"I mean, you're right, I should tell them, but have you considered that I'm a coward."

Dream laughed at this, relieved that Techno was getting back to his usual self. "Well do you want pizza?" He asked, summoning the food on the table.

"Yeah. Don't forget the olives." Techno said, summoning the olives himself.

"There's someone out there who fears olives?!"

"I don't know man, I don't come up with these things." They both laughed as they dug in. Neither of them needed to eat, being gods, but it was a fun activity.

After dinner, Techno went to his side of the office to work. Curious, Dream followed him. "Getting started on tomorrow's nightmares already?"

"I know it's early, but there's this one guy who fears the weirdest things, I can't come up with anything. So I'm getting an early start."

"Hmm." Dream looked over Techno's shoulder, reading the list of fears. After a few moments he made a suggestion, including all of the fears and throwing in a few bloody massacres for good measure.

"Bruh." Techno responded. "How are you so much better than me at my own job!"

They both laughed a while before Dream asked, "Does this mean you can come to bed tonight?"

"But what if something goes wrong."

"Trust the helpers, they've been doing this for nearly as long as we have." Techno sighed, knowing his concern was inconsequential, before agreeing.

Sleeping was another thing that they didn't need, in fact, neither of them knew if they actually could sleep, but they enjoyed getting under the covers and cuddling, just enjoying each other's warmth and company despite being wide awake.

They got in the usual position, Techno clinging fo Dream's side as Dream wrapped his arm around Techno, and relaxed, forgetting all of the stress of the previous day and sinking into each other. Techno readjusted a few times, but Dream always readjusted back to make sure both of them were as comfortable as possible.

Eventually morning broke and despite neither of them wanting to leave, Dream got up. He summoned breakfast for the two of them, the smell of which wafted over and made Techno get out of bed. Once they were finished, they grabbed the notes they had written and got ready for another stressful, busy day.

"Don't work too hard today, I'd like to do actually something this afternoon."

Techno chucked, embarrassed. "We'll see. Good luck with your stuff."

"Good luck Technoblade." Dream said softly.

Techno smiled at the gesture, and they shared a short but meaningful goodbye kiss before teleporting to their respective realms.
