"Hahaha!" Dream laughed loud and boisterous, darting across the treetops, the sun sparking through his dirty blonde hair to give him an angelic glow. "Wooooo!" He called, leaping out of Techno's grasp and into the river below.

"Get back here you idiot!" Techno complained, stopping to regain some energy from atop the tree Dream had leapt from.

"Never!" Dream replied with a boyish shout, clearly having the time of his life as he frantically swam to shore.

Smiling to himself, Techno rolled his eyes and dove in, pulling out his sword in time to nick the back of Dream's leg. He could see Dream wince in pain as he gracefully exited the river, buckets of water falling from his form as he emerged. "Hey!" He exaggerated, turning around for a second to glare at him from behind his mask. Still, he didn't slow down, running fast as ever through the forest floor.

"Ha, weak!" Techno held a proud smile, exiting the water as well to chase him, not stopping as he shook the water from his head. The tree trunks were thick and forced them into a winding path, though Dream's trail of water made sure Techno didn't lose him completely. But Dream didn't know that.
With Dream's distant giggles echoing sweetly in his ears, Techno turned left, estimating the location of the large mountains he had just barely been able to see from the treetop. He was expecting Dream to have seen them as well, though he might not know that Techno was aware of it, attempting to juke him.

"What, did you lose me already?" Dream cooed. The sound came from his right, just as expected, and soon, he saw a flash of green sprinting left, directly into his path. Techno's soul screamed at him to return the snark, but he bit his cheek, staying as silent as possible to not give away his position. "No retort Techno? You losing that badly?"

Dream heard his footsteps a second too late. With a dramatic swipe of his blade, Techno slashed, cutting through part of Dream's cheek and slicing the strap holding his mask on, eliciting a high pitched yelp. "Never underestimate me."

The porcelain dome fell to the forest floor, abandoned as they both ran past it. "Oh no, my mask." Dream quipped sarcastically. From the angle they were running, Techno could see Dream's high cheekbones dusted with millions of freckles and a crystalline green eye half heartedly glaring at him. Techno could easily imagine the corners of his lips curled up in a familiar smirk just beyond his vision. To him, Dream's looks never got old.

They continued winding through the trees, damp air cool against their soaked skin and clothes, rich smells of the forest permeating their consciousness, relaxing them more than they'd like. For a single silent, blissful moment, it almost felt as if they weren't chasing each other, but running side by side, enjoying the atmosphere together. In the distance, Techno saw plains creeping through the trees, indicating an end to their run through the forest. In front of him, Techno saw Dream make a sudden turn, barely dodging out of a sword swing. "What?" He mumbled under his breath. Dream obviously heard him, lips pressed together in a cheeky giggle, taunting him as usual.

They continued to run in a straight line until the tree line was about to end, at which point Dream seemed to dive forward, jumping between the trunks of some obnoxiously in the way trees. Techno smirked, something like that wasn't enough to lose him. Just as he jumped to follow through the same hole in the tree trunks, he saw Dream turn around, a bold and confident smile scrunching up his cheeks and the corners of his eyes, water droplets still dripping from his hair to frame his face. He looked at Techno with terrifying amusement before dumping dirt between them.

Confusion quickly swapped to realization as Techno continued to fall, reaching terminal velocity as he dropped through the perfectly placed hole in the earth. A trap, a classic one at that, he really should've seen it coming. He took out his bucket to help break his fall, but saw multiple failsafes that made sure he took some damage. With a loud thud, he landed. Pain shot through him, but he was alive.
