I began to twist and turn, trying to go back to sleep. I didn't want to have to wake up and face the others.
Last night, I read that letter from Klaus. It made my heart stop. Yes, I was still in love with Klaus, but I couldn't bare to get back with him. I couldn't go through that pain again.
I slowly got up, deciding I wasn't going to be able to fall asleep again. I walked over to my closet, deciding I should probably change clothes.
I decided it would also be good to take a shower, so that's what I did. When I got out, I brushed out my hair and blow dried it.
I dug through my closet, pulling out a pair of denim jean shorts and a AC/DC band tshirt. I slipped on some socks and my white converses.
I made my way downstairs, entering the living room. Damon sat on the couch, swirling the bourbon around in his glass. He seemed to be in thought.
I sat down next to him, smiling as he turned to me. He smirked and took a sip of his drink.
"Good morning, Little Bennett," Damon said.
"Morning, Damon," I replied.
"What's got you in such a good mood?"
I shrugged. "I don't really know. But I'm happy to be in it."
Damon nodded. "Yeah, I'm happy you are in it also."
He sighed and looked away, as if he was avoiding looking at me. I rolled my eyes.
"Damon, what is it?" I asked.
He turned to me, a slight smile appearing on his face. "I can't stop thinking about the fact that Michelle wants to become a vampire."
I sighed. "Damon, I completely understand. But she wants to be with you so badly. I honestly adore you guys."
Damon gave me a genuine smile, causing me to giggle. There was a moment of silence.
"So, no one has fully told me what happened while I was gone," I said.
Damon nodded. "I'll tell you."
I sat there quietly listening to Damon explain everything, from Elena becoming a vampire to Bonnie becoming an anchor.
It was all pretty crazy. I couldn't decide whether the events were crazier, or the fact that I was dead during all of it was.
"Want to go to the grill?" I asked.
Damon perked up and shrugged. "Why not?"
I walked over to the bowl of car keys, and grabbed Damon's. I looked at him and jiggled the keys.
"Can I drive?" I asked.
He laughed. "No."
I sighed. "Why not? I never get to drive."
"You really need to get your own car."
I nodded vigorously, causing Damon to laugh. "Yes, please."
We pulled up to the grill and got out. We headed towards our usual table. Matt walked over with a smile.
"How's my favorite customers?" Matt asked.
I laughed. "We're good. How are you and Elena?"
He smiled wider. "We are really good."
My phone began ringing. I grabbed, realizing it was Elena.
"I gotta take this. I'll be right back," I said, dismissing myself.
I walked outside and answered the phone. I could hear Elena's panicked breathing.
"What is wrong?" I asked, kinda freaking out.
"It's Bonnie. She isn't gonna make it. The Other Side is falling apart. Wait, you don't know about that," Elena rambled.
"No, I do. I got it. If she dies she'll come right back alive. Don't worry."
I hung up and looked down at the ground. Damon came walking out the door, towards me.
"What're you gonna do? If you die, I'm going down with you. I'm not letting you go alone," Damon explained.
I smiled, shaking my head. "I can't let you do that."
Damon grabbed ahold of my shoulders. "Kylie," he said, making me lift my head.
He never calls me Kylie. He barely calls me Ky. It's always Little Bennett.
"I love you like Bonnie loves you. I'm not gonna let you go through this alone," Damon explained.
I sighed, but smiled. I placed a kiss on his cheek and wrapped him in a hug. "I love you too, Damon."
I could tell he was now smiling. He began to rub my back. After a bit, he pulled away and looked at me.
"Well, first I need to give us a safe place to go. The Other Side is falling apart. That will be pretty difficult, but I think I'll be able to do it. And second, I have to perform a spell that always me to die when Bonnie does. Bonnie will come back, I won't."
Damon nodded. "Ok. Let's do this."
We went back into Damon's car. He sped off, heading towards his house.
I was going through my mind, trying to prepare myself for what was about to happen. Damon spoke up, interrupting my thoughts.
"Do I spell that causes death on me when you die," he said.
I turned to him and looked in his eyes. He was serious. I nodded in agreement, even though I hated it.
We pulled up to the house, and I ran straight to my room. I grabbed all the grimoires and things I would need. I ran back down to Damon.
I stopped, putting my hands on my hips and taking deep breaths. "You should've asked me to get the things," Damon laughed.
I looked up at him with an angry look. Then I laughed. "You wouldn't know what to get."
He smiled and shrugged. I sat down on the ground. Opening the grimoires and preparing to do the spells.
I was ready for the first one. I looked up at Damon, waiting for approval. He smiled and nodded.
Go time.
