I got up early, deciding I'd make breakfast. Damon wasn't here to do it anymore, so I guess I would.
I walked downstairs, but to my surprise, Kai was already cooking. I smiled at the view.
"Umm, good morning," I said.
He turned to me and smiled. "Good morning, Kylie. Want some bacon? Eggs? Maybe toast?"
I giggled. "Sure. I'll have some of each."
"Goodness, greedy."
I shook my head and laughed at his playfulness. I looked over the ascendant.
"Wow, that's like half done already," I said.
Kai met my gaze and nodded. "Yeah. I could sleep well last night. I will say, you are pretty when you sleep."
I looked over at him with a raised eyebrow. "Uh thanks I guess, but why were you in my room?"
"Oh, I was checking to see if you were up."
I nodded. Kai walked over and handed me a plate. He set across from me, in Damon's usual spot. That kind of made me frown. I missed my best friend.
"So, I think I'll have it down by later today or tomorrow," Kai said, breaking me from thought.
I smiled and nodded. "Ok. That's good."
I took a bite of my eggs and chewed it slowly. "This is really good," I said.
Kai smiled. "Thank you. I try hard on my cooking."
"So, I never asked you what you are going do when you leave this place."
He looked up from his food and at me. "I don't really know. Probably finish what I started. Kill my dad, merge with my sister, the normal."
"You never told me you had a sister," I said.
He sighed. "Her name is Jo, Josette Parker."
I gulped. "That's your sister. Kai, you can't merge with her."
He looked at me. "And why not?"
"Because. Jo is so nice and she doesn't deserve to be merged."
"Technically, we were supposed to merge 18 years ago."
I shook my head. "So, you don't really have to do you?"
He shrugged. "I don't know, but I want power."
"Take mine then," I said, holding out my arm.
He shook his head. "No. That's not what I meant, and anyways I won't do that."
"Why not?" I questioned.
"Because."
"Because why?"
"Because I said."
"Well, why?"
"Because it hurts you!" He yelled.
I gulped and nodded. "I'm sorry for pushing you."
"No, it's fine. My fault for yelling."
I smiled. "So you care about me."
He shook his head. "I'm not doing this right now."
I sighed. "Fine."
I grabbed his plate with mine, and carried them over to the sink. I began to wash the dishes and quietly sing.
"You're really good," he said.
I jumped a bit. "Oh, uh- I thought you left the room."
He looked at me confused. "I don't like to sing in front of people," I said.
"Why not?"
I gulped. "The last person I sang in front of died about three years ago."
He sighed. "I'm sorry for asking."
I shook my head. "No, it's fine. If you have any questions go ahead. I know you have questions after seeing my memories."
He nodded and jumped onto the counter. "Who was the girl in the woods?"
"Carson. She was my best friend."
"She seemed like a bitch."
I shook my head. "She wasn't."
"Uh, what gender was the baby?"
I turned to him. I took a deep breath. I knew this would happen eventually.
"It was a boy. I didn't know that until I was dying."
He nodded and frowned. "Who killed you? Because they deserve to be dead. And if they aren't, I'll do it myself."
I smiled at him and shook my head. "They already died. I just don't know how."
Kai nodded. "Who was the hybrid?"
"Klaus. He is an original."
"Did you love him?"
I nodded. "Yes. He was my first real love."
Kai looked at me. "Do you still love him?"
I nodded. "Of course. But I will never go back to him. I can't do that to either of us. Anyways, he has a baby on the way. I'm gonna be the aunt."
Kai nodded. I looked down at my feet. I felt arms wrap around me. I watched as Kai's feet appeared next to mine.
I looked up at him and smiled. "Thank you, Kai."
He nodded. "Of course. I mean, I have no clue what is happening to me, but I'm enjoying it because it makes you happy."
I smiled and looked at him. My eyes once again caught in his. My eyes made their way down to his lips.
Before I could think, his lips came crashing onto mine. I didn't stop it, instead I kissed him back.
Our lips were moving in sync, but I pulled away and shook my head. "I'm sorry," I said.
I turned away from him and went to walk away, but he grabbed my wrist.
"Why'd you pull away? I know you wanted me kiss you, and I wanted it too. I'd say I'm sorry, but I'm not," Kai said.
I felt tears fall down my cheeks, but I didn't wipe them this time.
"No, I wanted to kiss you, but I can't. I can't go through that again. As much as I want to kiss you again, I can't go through that pain."
He shook his head. "I won't let you get hurt. I promise."
I shook my head. "I should be so upset and sad, but I can't be like that. I can't because all I want right now is to kiss you again."
He walked closer to me, making our chests touch. Our faces were inches away.
"Nothing's stopping you."
I looked up at him and smiled. "Only because you promised."
I wrapped my hands around his head and pulled him closer to me, pressing our lips together.
We kissed for what seemed like hours, even though it was only a few minutes. I pulled away and smiled at him.
I think I've caught feelings for Kai Parker.
