Despite growing up in a country known for its massages, New never had the luxury of time or money to get a massage. And he finally realised why his countrymen get praised for their massaging skills. As he lay there face down, he felt all the weight he had ever carried, all the tension he had ever experienced, gradually dissipating. It felt so relaxing and calming that even his chaotic mind felt light and sleepy. As if a spell was cast on him, he soon fell asleep right there without a care.
"New...!" The voice was distant and encouraging.
"New!" He heard the voice clearer this time... "It's pretty late. Why don't you wake up and eat something? You can go back to sleep again."
It was clearly Tay's voice. New's eyes widened. He was in the same massage bed, but was covered with a cozy blanket.
"Sorry, I didn't want to wake you up, but your stomach kept growling." Tay apologised... "Let me take you to your room upstairs, you can eat and go back to sleep there."
"What, what time is it?" New's voice was hoarse from deep sleep.
"10 past 5"
"5 PM?" New sat up straight in surprise.
"Ya"
"I... I generally don't sleep during the day. How did this happen?" New was confused, his head still a bit groggy.
"You have to rest your body when it needs to. You will fall ill otherwise. You should sleep more after you eat something. Come on, here, get dressed." Tay passed New his clothes and stepped out.
New quickly collected himself and got dressed.
"Shall we?" Tay asked when New stepped out.
"Ummm.." New hesitated... "I am sorry, I missed lunch."
"No, you didn't," Tay smiled... "Lunch is still waiting for you. Let's go?"
Seeing Tay heading upstairs, New stopped again... "Is the restaurant closed?"
"No, we can still go to the restaurant if that's what you want. I just thought you would be more comfortable in the room. Don't worry, I won't come in if you don't want me to. "
New still shook his head... "Did they start serving Tea already?"
"Ummm, I guess, do you want Tea?"
New sighed and stood there looking lost.
"What is it, New?"
"Did you have lunch?"
Surprise passed Tay's face... "Y..Yep, ya"
New then calmly got into the elevator and let Tay lead him. But instead of stopping on the seventh floor, the elevator took them to the top floor. New frowned when the door opened to an open bar on the rooftop.... "Did you click on the wrong floor?"
"No, come on, didn't you want to have lunch with me?" Tay prompted... "The restaurant is busy with guests having Tea, but the bar won't open for another two hours. We can have the place to ourselves."
New was dumbfounded for a second. Never in his life had he had people who understood him, even after clearly explaining himself, but Tay understood him without any effort. He was no longer sure if he was in reality.
"Woooohw, Now that's a rare sight, To what do I owe this pleasure?" An amused tone mixed with sarcasm greeted them as they entered the bar. New looked at the speaker uncomfortably, but the speaker was glaring at Tay.
Tay calmly turned to New... "New, This is Off, Unfortunately, my best friend and owner of the bar."
Seeing Tay politely introduce him, Off realised it wasn't the time to tease his friend. He smiled at New and extended a hand... "Co-owner, actually. Hi, I heard a lot about you."
