New could sense someone sitting beside him, but he didn't lift his head. He didn't feel like it.

"I...I hope you don't mind me sitting here," A smooth voice carefully asked.

New lowly hummed.

"I am sorry about your grandfather," the voice added.

"Thank you!" New's voice was hoarse.

"I also want to tell you that you are pretty amazing yourself," The voice praised, making New frown.... "I am not sure what happened to your parents, or if you have any siblings, but whatever the situation is, it's pretty amazing that you took care of him alone for so long, A dementia patient with an acute tumor, he went through a lot, and you went through it with him, Your grandfather was pretty lucky for having you"

New finally lifted his head to look at this stranger who seemed to know a lot about him.

A well-carved face and brilliant charm welcomed his gaze.

"You are?" New asked confused.

"Oh, right, I totally forgot introducing myself. I am Tay. I work at the hospital."

New nodded with realization. The staff at the hospital would naturally know him as he had been visiting with his grandfather for the last two years. So he didn't ask any further.

Tay then kept silent, just being there, there was no other sound except for occasional foot steps passing them.

After a long time of that silence, New leaned back, resting his head on the chair.... "How pathetic do you think I am for feeling relief more than grief?" He murmured his thoughts.

Tay jumped at those words in that excruciating silence.... "It's not pathetic at all, in fact, it's only natural. You should actually be happy that he is relieved from pain and is resting in peace. I am sure you are going to miss him, but your grandfather is finally not suffering, and you get to stop too."

As if none of those words reached his ears, New continued his murmur... "You know what I am thinking, I am thinking about finding a busy gay bar, getting drunk, picking up a random hot dude, and fuck like animals in a cheap motel."

Tay's eyes went wide at those words. He slightly turned to New... "I know a gay bar nearby, I can take you there once we are done with the formalities here."

"Is it really appropriate to ask me out like that now?" New retorted.

"I am.... I am sorry, it's just that I missed 2 years' worth of chances, and this, this is my last chance. I didn't, I don't want to miss it..." Tay blurted... "I know its not the time or place, but..."

"Okay," New agreed too soon that Tay froze mid-sentence.

That is when someone came and interrupted them... "Sir, the ashes are ready. Do you want to take them with you or want us to set up a chedi in our columbarium?"

New sighed and stood up... "I would like the chedi to be built as soon as possible."

The person nodded... "Please follow me to finish paperwork and details, we will get it started right away."

As New followed him, Tay followed New.

New was filling in the details in the application when Tay excused himself... "I will be back in a minute."

Once New filled all the required details, all he had left to do was send his Grandfather's photo, and he was done.

"Is that it? Don't I have to decide where the urn will go or how to design it?" New asked confused.
