Amelia had everything- family, friends, a promising future- the sky was the limit. But just like that everything was taken from her. One moment she's planning her high school graduation party the next she's laying on a therapist's couch. It was as i...
"So, as you can see, the place has great natural lighting and plenty of room for large furniture," the landlord explained.
After we finally got through the mind-numbing traffic delays, Aralyn and I arrived at the apartment complex. To my surprise the landlord was still willing to keep our meeting even though the sun had sunk well below the skyline. Within the hour he had informed us of the multiple facilities in the place and proceeded to show us around the actual apartment.
The place had two bedrooms and one full bathroom. It had a full kitchen, dishwasher included, as well as its own washer and dryer for laundry. Had this been under normal circumstances, I would have actually been really interested in renting this place. It had a great deal of potential to personalize and make one feel right at home.
I didn't need to think twice. The place was perfect.
"Aralyn, what do you think?" I asked her, wanting to know her thoughts.
She ran her hands through her hair, thinking. She tilted her head to the side.
"Are we allowed to paint the walls a different color?"
The guy, with his hands shoved in his front pockets, nodded his head.
"Yeah, I don't have an issue with that," he responded. "I've had other tenants paint the walls of their places."
After hearing that Aralyn's features lit up. Similar to Regina, Aralyn too had an eye for interior decorating. I never understood why she declared a major in English when she knew she had a knack for this sort of stuff. She could always step into a room and immediately know what to change, adjust, or fix. I had a good feeling that she would make use of the place herself.
I turned abruptly towards the landlord and spoke.
"I'll take it," I stated.
Aralyn stopped dead in tracks and quickly came up to me.

"Amelia, are you serious? This is literally the only place that we've looked at," she exclaimed. I looked at her and smiled.
"Aralyn, do you like the place?"
She opened her mouth to speak but very few words came out.
"I. . . well. . . yeah, I do. . . but-"
"Good," I said. "Because, I want you to move in with me."
Aralyn stared blankly back at me for a long moment. Her eyes first went wide then narrowed in clear skepticism upon my offer. Once she realized how serious I was she took a step back.
"You're being serious," she gasped.
I nodded my head.
Suddenly a wave of joy washed over her face. A huge smile curved her mouth and immediately brightened up her features. She had become excited, she nearly jumped into my arms like a child on Christmas.
