Amelia had everything- family, friends, a promising future- the sky was the limit. But just like that everything was taken from her. One moment she's planning her high school graduation party the next she's laying on a therapist's couch. It was as i...
"Alright so what did you want to tell me?" my best friend asked as she slung her handbag over the chair.
She casually hopped up on one of the chairs at the high table I chose at O' Donavans.
Aside from our dorm room, Aralyn and I would find ourselves at one of the local coffee shops near campus when one of us needed to vent. But, since both of us have finally graduated, it was time to find a new place. So, I figured that O' Donavans was as good a place as any other. Plus, it happened to be located perfectly between the office and the house.
"When I was at the office today, I kept receiving these strange emails." I answered.
I explained further by pulling out my phone, showing her the various messages. She took my phone and began scrolling through. Her eyes narrowed on the screen just as mine had done so, and eventually her expression grew to shock.
"Amelia, I never told anyone about-"
"I know." I took my phone back and placed it down on the table. "This person knows me, Aralyn." Better than I knew myself it seemed.
Before I left the office, Elijah told me he wasn't able to see me until tomorrow. And, from the irritated look on his face it was easy to see he was not too thrilled. He mentioned something about a meeting with a particular patient or something- whatever the reason I was glad. I needed time to figure out who this unknown person was. More specifically what they wanted.

Aralyn's eyebrows creased together in question. "Do you think this person was at school with us?"
My serious expression was unchanging. This unknown person never mentioned anything about my college. And besides, I never got close enough to anyone at school for them to know these secret things about me. Even through all the group projects and late night study sessions, I always remained strictly academic.
I furiously shook my head. "No."
It suddenly occurred to me that this person mentioned a very specific piece of information. Quickly, I flipped back through the emails and felt my stomach drop. My eyes were glued to the name Elijah Broderick.
This person only mentioned things about my family and . . . and Elijah. I sat back in my chair in a daze.
"Elijah. . ." I started to say.
"What?"
"Aralyn, this person knows that I'm involved with him. They hold two very crucial pieces of information about me in their hands. What the hell else could they possibly know?" I searched her face for an answer only to find that she was just as lost as I was.
She leaned forward to rest her head in her hands. Her eyes fell to the table in puzzlement.
"Have you told Elijah about any of this?" she asked.
"No, and I don't plan on telling him any time soon," I explained. "Last night I told him about what happened to my family."
Instantly, her whole body stilled and her eyes grew wide.
