Amelia had everything- family, friends, a promising future- the sky was the limit. But just like that everything was taken from her. One moment she's planning her high school graduation party the next she's laying on a therapist's couch. It was as i...
I felt myself floating in and out of broken sleep. My body was heavily weighted down from the much needed rest, but my mind was racing a mile a minute. I heard the high pitched voice raging in the back of my mind. Mia.
Wake up! You need to wake up! WAKE UP!!
My eyes peeled open to find an empty office. Where was Elijah? What time was it?
The moment I tried getting up- a searing pain shot straight to the back of my head like a metal ice pick. I cursed under my breath.
"Son of a bitch." I struggled to sit up properly.
Serves you right. Jesus, you still fall apart under his touch even after I told you what kind of person he is. Pathetic.
"Oh, shut the hell up. Not all of us were born without a sense of feeling."
Oh, believe me. I feel things deeper than you can imagine. I just don't let my emotions get in the way like others do.
"Where's Elijah?"
Mia hadn't bothered responding, which I was most grateful for. I needed her voice in my head like I needed a hole in my head. But once we stopped our little bitch fight an unsettling silence filled the room. The shades were drawn, darkening the room.
It took a quick second for my vision to really clear up. Once it did, I glanced around the room to find that I was alone. Where was he? I slowly got off the settee and made my way over to his desk. I glanced down at the clock and read the time. Four-twenty P.M.. Shit!
Though my mind was slightly foggy, I still managed to remember Elijah's meeting at four. Some secretary I am.

The silence in the room was broken by the sound of two distinct voices. I looked up from the desk to find a dim glow of light coming from outside the office. Quietly, I stepped over to the door. My heart rate quickened unexpectedly. I hadn't even opened the door to see who was speaking to Elijah- I already knew who it was.
"What the fuck is he doing here?" I whispered under my breath.
Maybe my vision was impaired or maybe I somehow managed to smack my head before waking up. I could not come up with a single explanation as to why he was standing in the waiting area.
Elijah sat behind the reception desk with his arms folded over his chest. And leaning there against the wall was Seth Kalford. Also known as Professor Kalford. Also known as the man that Aralyn has been sleeping with since before graduation. From what Aralyn had told me, Seth was supposedly taking a trip up north to be with her longer.
