. . . "Take me off speaker phone," he said. . .

My eyebrows raised along with Aralyn who was all too intrigued to hear what he had to say next. Not arguing, I switched him back to the private and placed the phone up to my ear.

"Okay," I urged. "What is it?"

"As much as I know you want to forget about our little incident earlier today, I refuse to simply ignore the fact that there's something there."

My stomach flipped at least five times within the past ten seconds of him talking.

"I know that there is. That's why I agreed we take things slow." I could hear his heavy breathing on the other end. A sound of practical defeat.

"What if..." I began, "What if after I bring my stuff back home we ... go out?"

That's a good idea. You're going to dump your shit off at your imaginary home and then go meet up with Doctor Sexy. Tell me, is he going to pick you up from your nonexistent house or will he simply pick you up from your car since that is where you really plan on living?

Thankfully, the sound of Elijah's voice distracted me from the irritating mocking because I was two seconds away from banging my head against the wall. Anything to make it stop.

"What did you have in mind?" I could almost picture the smirk on his face. That dangerous smirk of his that almost got me into serious trouble earlier.

Getting back to the matter at hand, what were we going to do? It was still too hot to be outside and according to recent weather reports we were in for some serious rain showers for the next few days

Getting back to the matter at hand, what were we going to do? It was still too hot to be outside and according to recent weather reports we were in for some serious rain showers for the next few days. So, any outdoor activities were definitely off the table. I preferred a quiet place, somewhere where we would be able to talk without constant interruptions.

The idea of going back to O'Donovan's was appealing except I was trying my best to limit myself with alcohol, plus there was no telling how crowded that place is on a Saturday. Were we beyond the point of just grabbing a coffee together? Getting coffee was something that people did who are pretty much meeting for the first time and haven't already made out with.

Come on, Amelia, think. Where can two people go who are not fully in a committed relationship and are attempting to take things slow- yet have already made it past first base?

"Maybe we could go out and get something to eat?"

"Are you thinking of a place like The Loft House in Richmond?"

The Loft House was a considerably small restaurant that was primarily meant for couples. The lighting was dimmed and every table was lit with its own personal candle. Gentle, classical music would play in the background which allowed for intimate conversation. You would never find a poor review on this place. Not when it served the most exquisite dishes in the city and was known for being one of Virginia's most romantic spots.
