Amelia had everything- family, friends, a promising future- the sky was the limit. But just like that everything was taken from her. One moment she's planning her high school graduation party the next she's laying on a therapist's couch. It was as i...
I hope you all have a safe and cheery holiday!! Here is a sneak peak into part 3 of The Red Flag. (Context: Still drowsy from the pills she took, Amelia overhears a private conversation between Elijah and one of his "clients") _____________________________ My feet dragged across the floor. I gently pressed my side against the door which remained slightly cracked. I closed my eyes and listened intently. Elijah's client spoke first. His voice sounded distressed.
"How much longer do you think you can keep this up?"
"As long as I can," Elijah answered sternly.
The man sighed, "Zachary is going to flip his shit if he finds out that you've been purposely delaying this. God only knows what Victor is going to do."
"That's why neither one of them is going to find out. Right?"
I could feel Elijah glaring at the man- even through the door where I stood.
"I'm just saying man, you're playing a dangerous game by keeping her close like this. The job was to hire her- get close- and convince her to take a trip to New York."
"Yeah? And then what? Zachary would pretend to play the nice guy and promise that everything will be okay, when he knows damn well what Victor will do to her in the end."
"Look man, once the girl is brought in it's out of our hands," he pointed out.
"No. It'll be out of your hands." Elijah's voice grew low. "How can I just sit back and watch them pick her a part with their fucking prying eyes?"
"They just want the code, Elijah."
"And what the fuck do you think they're gonna do to her once they have it, huh? That they'll just let her go? Don't be fucking stupid," he cursed.
"So, what? You're just gonna keep her here, until Zachary decides to come looking for her himself?"
"Better him than the wrath of Victor," Elijah stated.
He chuckled, "man you must really have it bad for this woman to keep her to yourself like this. Tell me, what is it about her? You in love with her?"
I held my breath, painfully awaiting his response. My whole body was shaking horribly. My God, why couldn't I stop shaking? A long moment passed before Elijah spoke aloud.
". . . What if I am?"
