Arc: Level C [Continued]
February 20 *15 years ago*
"Chase?" I call out my brother's name as I knock on his door. "Hurry up, or us we'll miss the bus!" He has his level R testings today, and he can't miss it unless it is an emergency. I continue knocking on the door, though still end up with no response. "What the hell," I whisper before I feel a presence behind me.
I quickly turn around, only to see Ezi. He had his back against the wall, and was studying me with a smirk on his face. "He's out, if that's what you're wondering."
O-out? But we have classes today... Did he forget?
I slowly breathe in and out before facing Ezi. "D-do you know where he went? Or when he'll be back?" He doesn't answer, though simply chuckles to himself before walking off. "I-is he at Derrick's place again?"
He stops in his tracks, and slightly turns his head to glance at me. "Why don't you call Derrick... and find out yourself."
He suddenly disappears into thin air, leaving me to blankly stare into space. A couple of seconds after having the information sink in, I quickly grab my phone and proceed to dial Derrick's number.
After a couple of seconds, he picks up. "Derrick! It me, Desirée. Is Chase with you again today? I have to talk to him, it's really important."
"Ah, Desirée, it's been a while!" he responds. "To answer your question, no, Chase's not here with me. In fact, I haven't seen either of y'all since last year."
"Either of us..?" I whisper. "T-then not Chase? You haven't seen him all year? But he told me that he's been to your place a few times."
"I-is that so?"
I pause for a couple of seconds. "T-thanks, Derrick," I quickly say before hanging up. "Where... where could he be?" I whisper to myself as I become slightly worried.
I run downstairs, and look at the clock that rested on the wall. "2 hours left until the appointment. And he told us to get there early." I sigh as I drop my body onto the couch behind me. I quickly grab my phone, and begin to type on the tiny keyboards, texting Chase's doctor.
"I'm sorry. Chase isn't feeling well today, so we won't be able to make it to the appointment," I say out loud as I type.
Once I press send, I look at the tv that rested in front of me, with the remote laying beside me on the couch. I slowly grab it, and proceed to turn it on.
"And here we have breaking news," the news reporter says. "The deaths of FBHE officials are continuing as we start the day with another death."
"A-another one?" I whisper to myself. I grab my phone, and attempt to call Chase once again, though it ends up going straight to voicemail.
I then feel a shift in energy behind me once again, causing me to slowly turn around. "What do you think... he's up to?" Ezi asks as he slowly walks closer to me.
I uncomfortably shift to the side, attempting to stay as far away from him as possible. "I," I begin to answer, "I'm not sure... H-he must be busy... if he's forgotten about his appointment."
"Busy doing what? What do you think?"
"I-I think you should go back upstairs," I say as I avoid his question.
"You dare order me to?" He says with a glare as his energy suddenly increases. I jolt and begin shivering. With a smirk, he continues. "I've been here for how long...? Two months... three? If your parents haven't noticed my presence all this time..." He suddenly teleports in front of me, causing me to shiver even more. "What makes you think they ever will..? Hm?" I try my best to avoid eye contact with him, though he uses his hands to force me to face him.
