Arc: 7/42 [Continued]

April 7- Day 7F

I lazily walk up the stairs to the spare room. After all, my room was already occupied by Desirée, and all of the couches were taken with Stylus, Ace, and Ivy staying over. Once I reach the door, I look at the knob as I hesitantly open it. Suddenly, Zarith appears.

"So you're just gonna leave them hanging like that?"

I sigh. "I told them that they'll find out tomorrow. It's almost 12 am, and I'm pretty sure we're all exhausted."

    He scoffs. "Ahh, I see."

I finally open the door, and slowly walk into the empty room.

"This would usually be her room if she wanted to stay over...," I slowly say. I walk over to the edge of the bed. I sit on the floor as my back lays on the edge. Zarith sits next to me.

    "Echo?" he asks.

I slowly nod my head as I look over at the cabinets. On top of it is the red camera, which I hadn't touched for a while. It was Echo's, though she would often want me to take pictures with it.

I sigh. "I need to go to sleep." I begin to take off my shirt as I point to the closet. Zarith still wore that expensive looking cloak. "Zarith, you can change out of that, you know that, right?"

He chuckles. "I don't need sleep."

    "That's not what I-"

"You're the one that should be focusing on sleeping. What are you stalling time for?" He slowly looks over to me.

"I-" I put my hand on my forehead as I slowly breathe in and out. "I wonder how I should feel..."

    "Hm?"

"She would have turned 16 tomorrow..," I chuckle.

"Ah, I see." He pauses as he continues to look at me. "Her birthday was right after yours."

    There's that silence again.

"I don't know how I'm supposed to enjoy our own birthdays when-" I sigh. "You're right, I'll just go to sleep." I adjust myself, allowing me to lay on the floor.

"You're not gonna sleep on the bed?" he asks, walking up to me.

"After all this time...." I begin to say.

    "It still smells like her."

My eyes slowly open as I look around me. I am in the same room as I was before; the same dark, empty room. It is like a cell, but a lot larger and spacious. Though, it doesn't smell, for some reason. I slowly sit up as my neck aches.

"Ahh...," I cry as I quickly touch my neck. I lay on the brick wall behind me, seated on the floor. I notice a bandage wrapped around my neck as I touch it. I slowly pull it. "What the hell....?" I whisper. I decide to leave the bandage, saving myself from any more pain. Suddenly, a painful thought reaches my head. "I remember...," I slowly say as my eyes widen. I slowly clench my fist as I feel a rise in adrenaline. "That bastard." I harshly set my head on the brick wall. I slowly begin to close my eyes.
