Arc: Past Blues & Whites [Continued]

May 6A- *7 years ago*

I walked out of my house. I was greeted with an overwhelming site of flowers that my mom would take care of almost every day. I honestly thought it made the front of the house look 10 times better than without the flowers. In order to get to the street, I needed to open the white gates. I started to walk towards it until I heard Echo call my name.

"Kenkennn! Waittt!"

I stop and turn around to see Echo running towards me. She comes closer, then stops, and puts her hands on her knees to catch her breath.

I turn to her and chuckle. "You seriously need to wake up earlier."

She frowns her face as a response to my comment. She goes on ahead to open the gate, and then breathes in and out. "Ok, let's go," she happily says.

We walk through the gates, and I wait a couple of seconds while looking back.

I hear Echo loudly sigh. "You always do that, Ken, and he never comes. Let's go." She walks ahead of me.

I hesitate, but eventually follow her.

Once we reach the front of the school, Echo runs up and hugs me.

"Bye Kenken!" she says as she runs towards her class.

I wait, and turn around to see Maklen standing beside me.

I quickly turn to him, shocked that he's here. "Maklen!" I say.

He turns around and sees me beside him. Suddenly, his eyes widen for about a second. As if he was surprised about something.

"You okay?" I ask.

"Oh!" He snaps out of his thoughts and fully turns his head towards me. "Ken.....It's been a while." He smiles. "How have you been?"

"Good." I say. "I'm pretty excited for 9th grade."

He scoffs. "Well, just a bit longer." He looks off to the crowd in front of us. "Oh!" He turns to me. "How's Stylus?"

I look down to the ground. "Um.....We kinda stopped talking.."

"Oh, really? You should get together again."

"How?"

He looks off once again. He sighs. "I had trouble making friends when I was younger too......"

"Really?" I was quite surprised about that. Maklen was pretty cool, and could easily befriend anyone. At least that's how he seemed to me.

"Yeah." He looks down. "Honestly, it's hard for people to like someone who's different from them."

"What? No. It's possible."

He sighs. "Yeah....I guess."

Since we were in the range of the topic, I decided to ask, "I think they should tell us more about elites when we're younger."
