Arc: Level C [Continued]

April 14- Day 14A

Ken's POV

Once Desirée finished explaining her story, she loudly sighed before looking to the floor. The story has gone on for so long that both of us ended up sitting on the bed.

She nods her head as she takes a deep breath after she sniffles a few times. "That's.... the story..," she finally adds. "That's why I told you to stay away... from Zarith. Nothing good can come from working with a Yamiren..."

I lightly scoff. "Is that... so?"

She gives me a glare. "Ken! Did you not listen to a single thing?"

"I know... that Yamirens can't be trusted. At least most of them." She lightly jolts, though continues to listen. "I know that well."

    "Then why?"

"Because I already made a deal. I know that there'll eventually be an end... between him and me."

She studies me for a few more seconds before she springs up out of the bed and faces me. "What... what do you mean by that?"

"Desirée...," I continue, dodging her question. "You came here for revenge... What would you do if you met... that Yamiren again?"

"E- Ezi?" she clarifies as her eyes slowly widen. "I would make him pay the price... of taking my family away."

I let out a scoff before I begin laughing. "What kind of bluff-"

"It isn't a bluff! I came here for this... I'm not backing out now! And besides, they wouldn't have let me go... if they didn't believe I could!"

"Are you sure about that?" she jolts as I ask. "Are you sure you can handle him... alone? You said it yourself; he's the second child of the Yamiren king."

She grits her teeth as she slowly moves back. "He may have been lying... I'll find a way-"

"You may be a Luxarian now, but don't get too confident. You'll get yourself killed... again."

She scoffs as she looks away. "Zarith told me the same thing... to back off."

    "Then-"

"But I can't. I can't go another day knowing that a monster like him is still enjoying his life... despite what he has done."

    "What level... was he?"

She shakes her head. "I'm not sure but... Zarith is a level R3, right?" I nod my head as a response. "Then that must be it. He may have been a level R3 as well."

"How can you be so sure? Has he used his ability in front of you...? He has, hasn't he?"

She begins to fidget with her hands as she continues to look down. "It's... it's just a feeling. That's all." Looking closer, her hands begin to lightly tremble before she takes a deep breath. "Ezier... if he's actually a son of the Yamiren king... a level R3 might be reasonable."
