We would have three more years of missions after that. And then I was iced too. I woke up in a dark room, a new scientist.
"Where is he?" I asked as I try and get used to being awake again.
"Who?" The scientist asks.
I'm in no mood for games. "The soldier, the winter soldier. My counterpart." I say through gritted teeth.
"Ah, yes. It was decided you would be...reassigned. Time apart was needed, he was becoming too attached." The scientist continues to talk but I hear none of it. They separated us. We only had each other.
Why? No. I know why. I will get him back.
I lunge forward towards the scientist but am stopped short by restraints, chains from my limbs to the wall behind me. "Ah, I don't think so angel. You may have been created together but you will do what we tell you to with or without the soldier." the scientist gives a sigh, "and lately you aren't of much use to Hydra, the winter soldier seems to function better without you." He begins to walk away but not before I can hear him give commands to wipe my memory.
I begin to laugh, it's more of an insane cackle. That won't work, it never has. Whatever abilities Zola gave me prevented that kind of tech from working on me, and not for a lack of trying. They tried everything from memory wiping drugs to electrocution. Nothing worked.
I take a shaky breath. I need to keep it together if I want to find my soldier again. Looking around I see alien technology, wreckage of the chitari attack on New York. A fight we studied footage of, to learn how they fought should we need to kill them. The facility is huge it won't be easy to escape from but I will bide my time. I'll get out, get to him. Whatever torture they are putting him through, I'm not there to ease it and put his mind back together.
That's when crashing begins, the sound of fighting. I pull desperately at the chains, maybe I don't have to wait I can use this chance to leave. I pull and pull until blood runs down my arms and feet but my efforts yield nothing and I let myself collapse into a heap, I can't even curl my wings around myself with these chains.
After a while everything falls quiet, and then a voice. One I haven't heard before talking on the other side of the room. He's too far to make out what he's saying but I can see him, although he can't see me yet.
He finally walks close enough for me to hear, "Thor I've got eyes on the prize." Before he can say anything else a girl with longer brown hair steps out from behind him and red wisps, not too different from my gold ones leave her hands and he stops in his tracks, influenced by whatever she did to him. I can feel the panic and fear radiating off of him.
Once he is taken care of she looks over at me and begins to approach. "I wouldn't do that to me if I were you." I try and sound menacing but I don't think it came off all that threatening being chained to a wall with my wrists and ankles bleeding from the thick metal cuffs.
"There is nothing you can do to stop me." Her accent is thick, Sokovian. She extends a hand the same red magic flowing from her fingers and onto my temple.
I can feel her presence in my mind, her growing frustration as whatever she attempted did not work. As she tries to pry deeper into my mind she falls down, clutching her head in her hands. "You, you're one of us. But why are you here like this? What have they done that hurts that much."
Before I can answer her a voice calls out "Leave her! We need to go now!" It's a boy with the same accent as her. Her brother? She glances at me one last time before turning and leaving following him out the door.
Whenever the man snaps out of the trance she put him in he holds out his arm. A metal glove snaps in place and he snatches up a glowing staff. Before turning and laying eyes on me.
"Jarvis armor up." At his words more pieces of metal armor surround him until he is fully covered like the glove he summoned. He slowly approaches me. "Who are you?"
"Well hello to you too." I shift my position and he steps back a bright light coming from the palm of his armored hand. I sigh, "I don't bite. And well," I shake the chains, "I can't do anything anyways."
He stares another moment before talking again. "Rogers, you're going to want to see this."
