Second Sphere

Onslaught

We charge towards him, simultaneously attacking. The four of us are managing to keep him busy enough, but together we can't defeat him. One by one we go down.

Steve picks up Thor'a hammer smacking Thanos with it. He uses the shield and hammer in tandem before hitting him with a ton of lightning. He breaks Steve's shield in half and sends him flying before I fly up behind Thanos using my spear to choke him out. He attempts to reach me but I dodge his attacks. He manages to take the spear and throws it but I let go before I'm flung away with it. Grabbing the dagger at my side I manage to cut a long strip down his face, but he backhands me sending me into a pile of rocks. I groan in pain. It's always the back.

Thanos wipes away as much blood as he can but it continues to stream down the side of his face and he grimaces. "In all my years of conquest, violence, slaughter. It was never personal. But I'll tell you now. What I'm about to do to your stubborn, annoying little planet. I'm gonna enjoy it very, very much."

An army teleports to the ground behind him and I look at the sheer numbers. "Well shit." I mutter between breaths, grunting as I get back to my feet using my discarded spear to stand. I make my way next to Steve standing next to him to prepare for the onslaught.

"We got this right?" I look to Steve and he nods back at me.

Suddenly Sam comes in on the coms. It's staticky but he's there. "Say Cap, can you read me? Cap, it's Sam. Can you hear me? On your left."

We turn and a portal opens behind us. T'Challa, Okoye, and Shuri all emerge. Sam flies in from behind them as more and more portals open. My eyes scan the portals looking for Bucky before I spot him and smile. He sees me too and smiles back. We give each other a nod before turning to thanos. Now isn't the time to catch up. But we will.

"Avengers...Assemble." Steve yells out and we all charge forward.

The army charges forward as well and all out war breaks out. None of us are given a chance to breathe.

I cut down one alien after another. This one was trying to attack Bucky from behind.

He turns to me briefly, "Thanks."

"I got your back." I call back and we stand back to back, shooting or stabbing whatever we can.

He calls out over his shoulder at me as we fight, "I see you got a new look."

I grunt pulling my spear free from the body it was stuck in, "And?"

He shrugs, "It's not bad, we match now."

I throw a knife into the eye socket of a creature that went to attack us from the side. Pulling it out I nod, "Well we were always designed to be a set. I guess it's time we looked the part too."

As much as I want to stay near Bucky, that's not where I'm most useful in battle. I take off to the sky and continue to fight from above.

I hear Clint come in on the com system, "Cap! What do you want me to do with this damn thing?"

"Get those stones as far away as possible!" Steve calls back.

Banner interrupts, "No! We need to get 'em back where they came from."

"No way to get 'em back. Thanks destroyed the quantum tunnel." Tony replies.

"Hold on!" Scott says. "That wasn't our only time machine."

A horn plays some Mexican music across the battlefield.

"Anyone see an ugly brown van out there?" Steve asks.

"Yes! But you're not gonna like where it's parked!" Valkerie calls back.

"Scott, how long you need to get that thing working?" Tony asks.

"Uh maybe ten minutes." Scott replies.

"Get it started. We'll get the stones to you." Steve says.

"We're on it, Cap." Another girl responds.
