It wasn't long before I had a whole group around me. The chains were transitioned to handcuffs, as if that could stop me. But I won't let them know that. And I was let on to a plane.
As it turned out Rogers was what seemed to be the team leader. There was Thor, a long blonde haired guy with a hammer. Natasha, a girl in all black with short red hair. Some guy in the corner listening to something, banner that's his name. Clint, a guy with a bow. And of course Stark, or Tony as I heard the others call him. I tried to commit all their names to mind should I need them to leave at any point.
When the girl first saw me, I saw recognition flash across her face. She immediately pulled Rogers and Stark aside and the whispers began. It doesn't matter if they know what I am, what I have done. Nothing they can do is worse than what Hydra just did to me. For the first time I felt alone, even when soldier was in the cryostasis chamber he was still there. I could still feel his presence, but now nothing. And it was an awful aching sensation that gnawed away at me.
For the duration on the flight I wasn't talked to just watched. Any comment I made was met with harsh stars. When we landed wherever it was we were going I was led into an interrogation room and my handcuffs were chained to a desk. Eventually Rogers and the girl came in and sat opposite of me.
"That's an impressive wing span." Rogers began, I could tell her was testing the waters gauging to see how I would react.
I shrugged, "I didn't put them there."
Before he can say anything else Natasha interrupts. "What was your role at Hydra?"
"I was the soldiers partner until they separated us. We were tools to kill, incite chaos, take out anyone who threatened Hydra." I wasn't going to hide the truth, not after being cast away by Hydra.
"Why did you do it?" Rogers asked this time leaning forward onto the desk. He didn't trust me, which makes sense.
"I wasn't given a choice. I was taken, experimented on, tortured. I was surviving. I was an asset until they decided I wasn't useful and they chained me in that facility." I lean forward on to the desk as well. "Hydra stole something very precious to me and I want to take that back. I will tear each of them apart until I get it."
Rogers and Natasha look at each other before leaving the room. That conversation was only the first of many. Telling how I got there, what Hydra did. I left out the soldier, our closeness as much as possible. Even omitting how I found him. Eventually they released me from the handcuffs.
Stark was the one to let me out "We want you to work with us, to take down Hydra. But make no mistake, if you step out of line at all, if you even attempt to betray us we will kill you. We are going to take you with us and keep you under watch. Don't run. Don't make us hurt you, we are trusting you."
"I won't." I said it and I meant it, if they wanted to take down Hydra I would help. I will get him back, I'll save my soldier from them. He would do the same for me.
The facility was nicer than I expected. I had a room to myself and it even had a bed. I can't remember the last time I slept on a bed. Most of the time it was the floor or cots in a cell where they kept me at different facilities within Hydra. My wings provided enough cushion to sleep somewhat comfortably but the bed! The bed was so nice! I almost didn't want to get up again.
The days that followed were filled with tests, mostly scans and blood draws. Nothing like what I was used to. Banner and Stark tended to be the ones who would run these. Banner seemed quieter than Stark, less harsh. But Stark was fascinated by whatever it is Hydra managed to accomplish.
