Capítulo XII- Lo Que Una Vez Estuvo Completamente Iluminado
Patience's eyes gleamed spotting Leo exiting his car. He didn't wear his backpack today so, Patience guessed he must have left it in his locker. She furrowed her eyebrows at Leo as he scanned his area making his way across the field.
"Hey, Leo," Patience bumped his shoulder with hers.
Leo jumped back, a questioning look rested on his face, "Patience? You're not wearing any color? Where are your skirts," he glimpsed at her feet, "and flats?"
Patience studied the black flannel layered over a grey shirt and black jeans, "What do you mean?" she said, taking offense to his statement.
"You know, the outfits that fit your unusually perky personality."
"Either you're just messing with me or just woke up and decided to act like a dirtbag."
"What, no! I just- I'm sorry, I didn't mean to. I had a weird and realistic dream last night," Leo stammered.
"Uh, huh. I'm sure that's it." Patience gestured with her pointy finger to the school doors, "Let's just get to class."
Leo and Patience passed through the door frame, entering the busy halls. Principal Perry spun holding up a tray filled with fresh chocolate chip cookies, her flowery dress flared the knees, and warmingly smiling she said, "Good morning, Leo! Good morning, Patience!"
"Good morning, Principal Perry," a soft smile made its way across Patience's face.
Leo grimaced, "Leo? You never call me by my first name. And according to legend, you haven't smiled since the sixties."
"I always smile when I see you!" Perry handed the tray to another student. "School board approved air hug?" she hovered her arms around Leo, he landed back on Patience, "Oh, that is good. Oh, no air hug back? Does my little schnookie need a cookie?" she took back her tray, offering the duo a treat.
"I suppose your little schnookie could take a lookie at a cookie," Leo grinned, grabbing a cookie. "Wow!"
"They're from our gourmet cafeteria," Perry guided Leo and Patience to the cafeteria. Patience crossed her arms, she slowed her pace studying Leo.
Leo pointed ahead, "Whoa, whoa, whoa. Those are the lunch ladies?"
"Yeah, we tried to find prettier ones, but, they'll do," Perry kept her smile as she left the scene.
Leo's eyes widened at the sight of Adam, Bree, and Chase sitting at the pristine yellow-clothed tables. "Hey, guys-"
Patience clutched the hood of Leo's jacket, pulling him back, "What do you think you're doing?"
